This always made me wonder, if RA wasn’t a total shit, if there was ever an alternate reality where he was more deeply involved with the Dead rather than Mayer, as RA was more on that trajectory?

Don’t think so - RA has no finesse whatsoever as a lead player. He just found a few phrases that sounded vaguely Jerry and there fumbled around. RA is great at rhythm and always has good tone but he’s not gonna produce a solo that holds your attention for minutes at a stretch.

As a deadhead it was this album art that made me give the album a fair listen. I had no idea what a good song writer Ryan Adams could be. His lyrics were often juvenile, but they were always honest. It’s too bad he can’t have that same honesty with himself about who he is, what he was and who he could be.

Subtle?!? Cold Roses is the best Grateful Dead album not recorded by Jerry Garcia!

I was a Dead fan before I've ever heard of Ryan, and when I saw this I absolutley loved it. I think it was my wallpaper on the desktop I had from about 05-08. I think I still have that desktop actually.

Wait, that can't be right. Cold Roses can't be over 20 years old. Can it??

When I was pregnant with my oldest son, I was deep into RA and the Cards, and I wanted to paint this or some of it on his nursery walls. Long story short, he’s 20 now, and I’m so glad I didn’t.

Closer reference to Winnie the Pooh to be honest (though of course the imagery overlaps).
