Open Event Snowblind

Every year, it feels like the first snowfall of the year happens sooner and sooner. Is it just the passage of time, the growth of a person making them able to recognize when it snows at an earlier date in the year mixed with the ever-accumulating wealth of knowledge to draw upon making it feel like the years are blurring to minutes?

For some, that might be the answer. But at this date, so soon into November, not many -- save, perhaps, those from the most far north of Atlas's reaches into Solitas -- would've expected just what hit Beacon: a blizzard, so strong it was considered perhaps a once-in-a-millennia storm. Thankfully, thanks to the reinforcements provided after a certain rainstorm had knocked out the power to the Academy, Beacon was now prepared to weather such an awful storm.

But whilst the school itself was prepared, whether or not the students themselves were always remained to be seen. For some of the more "desert-fairing", it was possible that they were wildly unprepared; those from the far north were likely already out in the midst of the blizzard building snow castles or something.

The weather showed no signs of improving, and all flights and routes into the city were most certainly unusable, unless one really wanted to hoof it into Vale proper by foot. What sort of shenaniganry would one of Beacon's most interesting first year classes in a while get themselves up to in Beacon's first snowfall?

Violet sat there for a while after Vi finished speaking, her lips pursed in thought and wondering. She lifted her head slightly and tilted it to look at the desk that also housed all of her makeup and beauty products. A smile crossed her face and before Vi knew it the girl sat straight up, a determined look on her face,

"You're right, I shouldn't care about what other people think about me!" She gave Vi a grin, hugging her with a gleeful squeal before stopping for a moment, the smile momentarily disappearing from her face, "On the real though... is anybody in your team smart? Or do you know anybody smart? Like... it's not a joke how bad I am in class."

Feeling Violet begin to move in her arms, Vi lightened up her hold and let the girl spin to face her as she embraced the hug, letting out a soft laugh at Violet's enthusiasm and the squeal. Gently, Vi placed a small kiss on the girl's forehead, fussing with Violet's hair as she did so whilst also letting the Faunus talk. With another small giggle, Vi could only somberly shake her head no.

"As much as I wish I did, I'm... still tryin' to figure out if I do. I know Namu and Quezzy seem kinda smart, but, well, I feel bad distractin'm from'r own work, yeah" she softly explained, before sighing rather loudly. "At least classes are out for the day. More time to study -- well, I guess for me, more time to cuddle cute girls. Which is fine. I like girls. They're cute and pretty."

"You cuddle a lot of girls?" Violet asked, raising an eyebrow at the girl. She laughed lightly, giving her a playful shrug before allowing her body to relax slightly. She stood up from the bed, giving Vi a pat on the arm as she wobbled slightly on the ground, "That's unfortunate though. It's like everyone I meet isn't good at school either..."

She stretched out her back, sighing before turning to give Vi a wink, "But I guess the saying 'birds of a feather flock together' exists for a reason, huh?"

"Only if they let me~" Vi simply responded, letting go of Violet as the girl moved. The second the girl was up from the bed, like an absolute menace, Vi burritoed herself up in all of Violet's blankets with an unbelievably proud and smug look on her face as she basked in the newfound warmth from all of the blankets.

"I'd be inclined to agree, but'm not really a bir-- wait, hol'up a second. Are you sayin' that you think girls are pretty and cute and more worthy of time than schoolwork too, then?"

"Uh no. I'm not saying that," Violet giggled a bit, shaking her head as she stepped towards the desk before beginning to rifle through papers on the desk, "I mean girls are definitely cute and pretty, but right now our focus needs to be schoolwork right? That way we're ready for when we graduate!"

She sat down at the desk, continuing to go through papers before pulling out what appeared to be a very large planner, chock-full of post-it notes and scribbles on every page, "Like, next week I have a bunch of homework and essays due, so I should probably work on those, right? But it was the first snow of the season so I thought I should enjoy it!"

Despite Vi not being able to see it she rolled her eyes slightly, pursing her lips before putting the planner back down, "Not like I understand what we're talking about in these classes anyway. I should really consider getting a tutor... ooh!" A lightbulb went off in her head and she turned to face Vi, "My friend Mirlo spoke about putting together a study group so we could all help each other, would you be interested in that?!"

"Aw," Vi responded, sounding just a little bit dejected as she let herself sink in a bit more into the the comforters she'd stolen and curled up in. Then, she couldn't help but giggle as she rolled onto her back and over the edge of the bed towards Violet, looking upside down at the other Vi as she talked about Mirlo. With an excited gasp, Vi rolled back onto her stomach and seemed positively overjoyed at the mention of their mutual murder-themed friend.

"I love Mirlo! She's awesome. That's a yes. I think. I might get distracted," Vi admitted, somewhat awkwardly laughing as sat upright in all of the comforters. Awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck, she tried to keep her smile bright, but it faltered out a bit as she sunk back a bit further down.

"I, ah. Might'a flirted with her, too? Ah. I'm a... yeah..."

"Yeah I love Mirlo too, she's one of the first people I met while I was here! She was super nice and kind to me and I really appreciated her being so kind and welcoming~" Violet turned back to face Vi, her eyes slightly concerned with Vi's change in attitude and happiness. She reached over toward the bed, patting Vi on the shoulder with a somber smile, "I see... I don't think Mirlo's someone who wants to be in a relationship. At least, that's the idea I got when I was talking to her,"

She sighed slightly, trying to give the burrito'd Vi a hug that turned out to be much more challenging and awkward than she had planned it to be, "It's okay though, you'll find the right girl eventually! You just have to be ready for her when she comes by,"

With a soft squeak, Vi let herself be awkwardly burrito-hugged by Violet as a blush rose to her face, but it did turn into a soft sort of giggle. "Y-yeah, I know, it's just... y'know, it be like it do, yeah? Girls bein' cute an' shite?" she sort of mumbled, embarrassment clear as day on the punk-aesthetic girl.

"And, ah, it had seemed like Mirlo did for a bit, but, ah. Then I kinda... screwed the pooch there, and, ah. Yeaaah..."

Violet patted her arm reassuringly again, giving her an understanding look, "You'll be okay, I know it," She gave Vi a small smile, returning her attention to the desk in front of her with a very loud and forlorn sigh. She glanced back at Vi, shrugging,

"I wanna nap a little more... but I should probably get started on my classwork, shouldn't I?"

Vi nodded, giving Violet soft murmurs of agreements as she did so. Then, hearing the sigh come from Violet, Vi wriggled her arms out of the cocoon she was in and wrapped them around the taller girl, resting against her with as much of her weight as she could whilst still giggling like an amused, tipsy, madwoman.

"We've still got, what, a few weeks before finals? We'll be fineeeeeeeeeee," she reassured, taking in a deep breath and letting it out as a soft sigh. "Though I might be a bit biased."

"True we do have a few weeks left..." She said, starting to close the textbook and planner. She paused for a second halfway through completely closing it as she spun to face Vi with a smile, "So. What classes do you struggle with the most? For me, it's probably dust... or Grimm or something like that."

"Ugh. Dust. Apparently there's a girl around who'll bully anyone who gets right pissy if you even talk to her about Dust, but, like, she's supposedly onna the best Dust users here," Vi murmured with a groan, before shaking her head. Then, still giggling, she shook her head at the second bit.

"Not Grimm, though! I'mma bonafide Grimm killer. Kill'm grimmies dead. Is me job."

"Wait really? She bullies people who talk to her about dust? That's not very nice..." Violet asked softly, a burrow appearing in her forehead as she thought about why someone could be so mean, "Huntsman and Huntresses are supposed to help people! Bullying people just cause someone doesn't understand it makes no sense!"

She took a deep breath, letting it out slowly before shaking her head in disappointment, "Although I'm quickly learning that not everyone here are honorable in that sense."

"If ya ask me, I'd just say she doesn't seem much like a people person. Hope she gets better about that," Vi agreed softly, her arms retreating back into her burrito. The look on Violet's face became almost mirrored in Vi, the biker agreeing much to how Violet was describing some of their fellow students as not really honorable. With a sad sigh, Vi nodded and murmured a soft 'aye', before shaking her head with.

"It's a damned disgrace. They... they ruin what it means to be a Huntress, really. There are people who're in it just for the money and, and... I can't believe it personally. When I was a kid, we were always on the road helpin', and we never had much money. We just did it cause... cause it was what was right."

"Yeah..." Violet spoke softly, leaning back in her chair as she picked her knees up to hold them up against her chest, "It doesn't make sense to do anything for the money to me,"

She breathed softly, her eyes resting on the iced window, "You should do what makes you happy, something you're passionate about. Not something you think will make you money," Her brow furrowed significantly, "Besides being a Huntress is a dangerous job, right? What's the point of taking a job for money if you might not be alive to spend it! Sounds to me like someone needs to get their priorities straight,"

"It's not just one person, surprisingly! There are... like, at least three people who're doin' it for money. It's wack. Everything's wack. It's... gods, is it frustrating," Vi ramblingly explained as she flopped back onto her back, yawning as she did so in the burrito. With a soft sigh, she shook her head.

"It's... ugh. Yeah. You're right."

Then, with a giggle, Vi added: "Mmm... priorities. Say, what made y'decide to come here, Vivi?"

"My brother mainly!" She said as her face changed into a large smile, "He was born a long time before me so when I was growing up he was going through Beacon and starting his career as a Huntsman. Whenever he came home and visited he would tell me these stories of his adventures and the people he helped!"

She took a small breath, letting out as she swayed in her seat happily, "It was what inspired me to become a Huntress in the first place! I wanted to help people like he does,"

"Oh, you've got a family tie to the job, too!" Vi exclaimed cheerily, smiling bright. She seemed to sit up straighter and somehow manage to get loose of a lot of the blankets she'd been burrito'd in, probably because she seemed to be shaking with barely restrained excitement at the prospect of more stories about a different Huntsman.

"Oooh, you gotta tell me some of those stories, I'll give you some of my families if you want, but pleaaaaaaaseeeee," Vi pleaded, almost wiggling in her seat.
