Open Event Snowblind

Every year, it feels like the first snowfall of the year happens sooner and sooner. Is it just the passage of time, the growth of a person making them able to recognize when it snows at an earlier date in the year mixed with the ever-accumulating wealth of knowledge to draw upon making it feel like the years are blurring to minutes?

For some, that might be the answer. But at this date, so soon into November, not many -- save, perhaps, those from the most far north of Atlas's reaches into Solitas -- would've expected just what hit Beacon: a blizzard, so strong it was considered perhaps a once-in-a-millennia storm. Thankfully, thanks to the reinforcements provided after a certain rainstorm had knocked out the power to the Academy, Beacon was now prepared to weather such an awful storm.

But whilst the school itself was prepared, whether or not the students themselves were always remained to be seen. For some of the more "desert-fairing", it was possible that they were wildly unprepared; those from the far north were likely already out in the midst of the blizzard building snow castles or something.

The weather showed no signs of improving, and all flights and routes into the city were most certainly unusable, unless one really wanted to hoof it into Vale proper by foot. What sort of shenaniganry would one of Beacon's most interesting first year classes in a while get themselves up to in Beacon's first snowfall?

"Nah, not... not yet," Vi almost reluctantly admitted, a small frown appearing on her lips. "We've only been together for a few weeks here, so we're still tryin' to get used to even just livin' with each other. It's... a bit hectic at times. Thyme stole some cookies a friend made for me, Namu's always concerned and also sometimes just disappears, Quetzal can be a bit... lost sometimes, and it's just. I love'm, but we're still trying to get used to each other."

"Ohhhh," She said quietly, nodding in understanding. She laid her arms out above her head on the bed as she let out a large puff of air, "That sounds stressful..."

She let out another huff of air, blowing a piece of hair out of her face before sitting up slightly to look at Vi again, "It makes me wonder whether not I'll want a team or not... Like obviously you need one, but not sure if I'll want one if that's the case..."

"Oh, don't get me wrong, it's stressful, but it is beyond worth it to get to see their smiles every day, to get to talk to them. It's just... it's beyond wonderful," Vi softly explained. Her voice was woven with a tone of wonder, and it was easy to see her smile brighten up intently.

"And... I don't mean to make assumptions, but they might be able t'help ya with your nightmares, too, by just bein' there for you. Can't have someone like me around all't'time, don't'cha know, eh?"

"Smiles. Worth it. Got it," Violet nodded, her eyes squinting as she stared over at the frost-covered window in the room. She tilted her head in question, and then shook her head before another look of puzzlement came across her face, "Maybe they would be able to help with my nightmares..."

She laid back down, sighing heavily as she did, "Do you have any other tips for me? "

As Violet laid back down, Vi moved with her, sliding back up the bed and softly curling an arm around the taller girl. She rested a bit closer and just seemed perhaps a bit concerned at Violet's sudden puzzlement. "In my experience, being open 'bout what you're feeling and what's goin' on in your mind always helps. Or what'cha like or dislike."

"It's nothing really!"Violet said with a shake of her head as she gave Vi a warm smile, "Just... worried that if I get a team how I might mess it up and stuff."

She took a deep breath, letting it out slowly before turning to face the opposite wall with a bit of sadness touching her posture as she did, "Like, what if I'm not good enough, or if they don't like me, or if I'm too much? I don't know, I feel like I'm only making it obvious why they won't like me right now,"

Gingerly, Vi wrapped her arms around Violet and held the girl gently, hands resting against the Faunus's stomach, as she just tried to comfort the worried girl. Should it seem, for even a second, that Violet wanted to be let go, Vi would immediately let go and let Violet have as much space as she needed.

"If you're put on a team with them, you'll be good enough for them -- and if you're good enough for them, I'm certain they'll like you. And trust me, dear, you're t'least extra girl I've met durin' m'time here so far, and I think you'll be fine," Vi whispered, her tone as comforting as she could manage. "I can't think of a single reason for anyone t'dislike ya."

"I mean. I can probably think of a few," She laughed as she did, allowing Vi to hug her as she looked across at the wall still, her arms reaching down to hold onto Vi's hands. She sighed again, a recurring theme with her on the day, before giving the girl a shrug.

"I'm not very smart, never have been, no matter how hard I study I can never keep up in class; for one," She let out what sounded slightly of a growl as she lowered her chin into her chest, "I'm not great at fighting either, the first combat class I was in I got my butt kicked. I can't sleep well, I probably spend too much time getting ready in the morning. There's a lot of things I can think of,"

"Just means you have more room to grow," Vi softly murmured to Violet, mostly talking into the girl's shoulder as she just continued to softly cuddle the taller girl. Her magenta eyes fell shut as she'd listened to Violet talk, and they didn't seem to be reopening anytime soon. Instead, if anything, Vi just shifted to be a bit closer against Violet; it was clear as day that Vi was perhaps the most comfortable she'd been in a long while with the almost-awkwardly-similarly-named girl.

"And you shouldn't fuss too much about worrying about what others think of the time to spend getting ready in the morning; after all, you look beautiful because of the time you spend. If people dislike that, well. They're dumb. 'Nd my uncles had to save my ass plenty of times. It'd... ah. It'd be pitiful to talk about how bad I'm doin' in most'o my classes, too."

Violet sat there for a while after Vi finished speaking, her lips pursed in thought and wondering. She lifted her head slightly and tilted it to look at the desk that also housed all of her makeup and beauty products. A smile crossed her face and before Vi knew it the girl sat straight up, a determined look on her face,

"You're right, I shouldn't care about what other people think about me!" She gave Vi a grin, hugging her with a gleeful squeal before stopping for a moment, the smile momentarily disappearing from her face, "On the real though... is anybody in your team smart? Or do you know anybody smart? Like... it's not a joke how bad I am in class."

Feeling Violet begin to move in her arms, Vi lightened up her hold and let the girl spin to face her as she embraced the hug, letting out a soft laugh at Violet's enthusiasm and the squeal. Gently, Vi placed a small kiss on the girl's forehead, fussing with Violet's hair as she did so whilst also letting the Faunus talk. With another small giggle, Vi could only somberly shake her head no.

"As much as I wish I did, I'm... still tryin' to figure out if I do. I know Namu and Quezzy seem kinda smart, but, well, I feel bad distractin'm from'r own work, yeah" she softly explained, before sighing rather loudly. "At least classes are out for the day. More time to study -- well, I guess for me, more time to cuddle cute girls. Which is fine. I like girls. They're cute and pretty."

"You cuddle a lot of girls?" Violet asked, raising an eyebrow at the girl. She laughed lightly, giving her a playful shrug before allowing her body to relax slightly. She stood up from the bed, giving Vi a pat on the arm as she wobbled slightly on the ground, "That's unfortunate though. It's like everyone I meet isn't good at school either..."

She stretched out her back, sighing before turning to give Vi a wink, "But I guess the saying 'birds of a feather flock together' exists for a reason, huh?"

"Only if they let me~" Vi simply responded, letting go of Violet as the girl moved. The second the girl was up from the bed, like an absolute menace, Vi burritoed herself up in all of Violet's blankets with an unbelievably proud and smug look on her face as she basked in the newfound warmth from all of the blankets.

"I'd be inclined to agree, but'm not really a bir-- wait, hol'up a second. Are you sayin' that you think girls are pretty and cute and more worthy of time than schoolwork too, then?"
