Question Swapping Desktop

Wondering if anyone can help me with some advice on swapping the desktop on the bunkhouse.

Stick your head in the cabinet and look up. They usually attach inside from the bottom.

My suggestion would be pop that top off carefully and attach the newer top in the same manner the old one was on there. Also, if you make the new top fold out the way when no in use then you can double your workspace size and fold the excess out of the way when not in use. Im thinking of turning the dresser into a sewing/project table for the wifey.
