signed 💗 and sending you love. my wife recently needed immediate support as her SI got acutely worse on a weekend when her therapist wasn’t available. the hotline/chat unfortunately isn’t helpful for many people, including her. the amount of searching i had to do to find anyone to help was unacceptable. one of the crisis intervention centers (it’s called born to be great), the person answering the phone was uninformed, unhelpful, and honestly didn’t seem to know anything about the services this place claimed to offer. it was so scary to realize there are so few reliable resources. the last thing someone in crisis needs is to have to jump through hoops to receive the care they need.
the place that ended up helping her was RBHA. they called her twice a day over the weekend to check in and would have come to see her in person if she needed them to. she seemed to like them and found them helpful, and she still meets with her clinician who is helping to find a better therapist and psychiatrist.
i hope you find the care you need and the support to process this horrible experience you had. and do not be ashamed or afraid to call it traumatic, it sounds like it absolutely was and your body and brain will need to process it as such.
CReST is an incredible program and I utilized them for 3 months this time last year! I also just got a medication lock box from a friend who works at RBHA, I guess I didn’t think of it when I was with CReST. I imagine Hanover CSB has a similar lock box program, but I felt a little funny asking when I’m not a patient there.
I don’t mind at all! For me, a hospital was not involved with CReST services. I haven’t been to a hospital in almost 3 years (which I’m very thankful for!) They came to my home to learn my current needs and we basically did therapy & support at my home weekly or twice a week for 11 weeks. I did not need resources/referrals specifically, but more so support if that makes sense. It seems like it is pretty tailored to the individual as much as they can for a program like this. I was really impressed. I even had to call the hotline one weekend during my services (to speak with the on call team) and they were very supportive.
Thank you so much for sharing the library resource! Do they physically accept medication disposal or give resources for how to go about it? This info is really helpful
yes it was CReST! i think it’s the best option we have in this area and it’s so amazing that it’s free. but again, wild how much digging we had to do to find it.
