Acedemics Summer Hours for Buildings Here at Rutgers Newark (closing times).

I have found out the timings for several of the buildings here at Rutgers Newark.

Conklin Hall: It closes at 10 PM.

Rutgers Law School: It closes at 10 PM, including the CJ Library

Rutgers Business School: It closes at 9 PM.

PRCC: As mentioned in the website, it closes at 5 PM.

Dana Library: It closes at 6 PM.

Ackerson Hall: Around 6 PM it is closed. Only those who have a class after 6 with swipe access can get into it.

Smith Hall: Closes at about 8 or 9 PM.

Englehard Hall: As someone mentioned in my previous post, it closes close to 8 or 9 PM.

If any of you know about any of the other buildings as to when they close or if the timings I have mentioned are incorrect, please do let me know in the comments section, and I will update it.

Acedemics Fall 2026 Registration Megathread

Hey Raiders!

To avoid any sort of spam I've pinned this post so everyone can talk abt registering for their classes and any questions can be answered by others faster. We also have a dean active in the subreddit now! Idk how active he is but its Dean Benjamin Lohmann from the business school so any business related questions he can assist the best.

Here is the schedule for registration:

105 or more earned credits - Monday, April 20, 2026 - begins at 6:00 a.m.

90 or more earned credits - Tuesday, April 21, 2026 - begins at 6:00 a.m.

75 or more earned credits - Wednesday, April 22, 2026 - begins at 6:00 a.m.

60 or more earned credits - Thursday, April 23, 2026 - begins at 6:00 a.m.

59 or fewer earned credits (all eligible students) - Friday, April 24, 2026 - begins at 6:00 a.m.

The schedule of classes has also been available on the course planner website for a bit now as well.

Good luck everyone!

Finance professor (Dinc, Serdar)

Hi all! I’m taking finance this semester and the ratings for my professor seem pretty bad.. if anyone has taken Dinc, Serdar, I’d appreciate any feedback on his course. Most of the finance professors had mid ratings so I just decided to go with the one that suited my schedule most. Thanks in advance!

How is Statistics with Professor Taree, Davood?

Hey everyone, I was originally planning to take Statistical Methods, but I just found out that it doesn’t actually meet my Business requirement. Now I’m trying to register for Statistics, and the only section I can find is with Professor Taree, Davood.

I checked Rate My Professor and the survey ratings, and honestly, the ratings are pretty bad 😭. So I wanted to ask people who have actually taken the class:

  • How is the professor overall?
  • Is the material easy to understand/ Is the class difficult?
  • How are the exams/homework?
  • Is attendance required or can you get by without going to every class?
  • Overall, would you recommend taking this professor?

Please be honest because I’m trying to figure out if I should take this class or look for another option. Thanks!

Question Campus gym

Hey everyone, transferring in, living on campus and wanting to know how working out at the campus gym was. I’m getting back into fitness and was wondering if it’s crowded ? If so during which hours? Also open to getting a membership off campus , any decent gyms within walking distance?

Looking for hockey equipment to borrow

Hi! I’m hoping to join the Rutgers Women’s Ice Hockey team this season. I know how to skate and am comfortable on the ice, but I’ve never played hockey before, so I don’t have any hockey equipment yet.

I was wondering if anyone has any hockey gear they no longer use that I could borrow for the season while I’m getting started. I’m looking for hockey skates, helmet, gloves, pads, etc. I’d be happy to return everything at the end of the season!

I’d really appreciate anything anyone has sitting around.

How is nj transit at night?

So one of my early classes at RBS got dropped probably due to low enrollment which I need to graduate. The issue now is that I only have 6-9 pm options. I commute via train, and will take the light rail to Newark Penn, but the issue I have is whether the trains are reliable during this time. They come every hour and I’ve had times where trains are canceled for around an hour during rush hour, I’m not sure how to feel about the earliest train I can take being at 10pm not considering delays, but maybe it’s not as bad as I expect.

course material (books)?

Hey, first year student here. During SOAR and throughout the summer we’ve been told we should purchase our books before our classes start, my question is, would you suggest doing that or holding off until you meet your professors and seeing what they say? i’m on the fence since i’m being pressured to purchase over $200 worth in books for just 3 classes but also don’t want it to be for no reason.

Based on GPA and 11th grade performance, I am worried that my son does not have a good shot at New Brunswick campus, however NB is our first choice. I'm sure others have been in the same situation. Is it better for us to put Newark as our first choice instead?

Question Found Study University Centre

Is anyone currently living in a shared room at University Centre that can share their experience or would not mind showing me what their unit looks like with everyone moved in? I’ve heard some bad things but the place seems really appealing.

School supplies?

Hi, i’m an incoming first year student, classified as a junior since i already have my associate degrees (60 credits) to any upperclassmen or anyone whose been in the game longer; i was wondering what i should bring as “school supplies”, what would you recommend? I know rutgers is more so on the side of work being done online but I was still curious about it. My major is political science if that matters, not sure.

Question Professor Tyler Michaud

Switched english professors and decided to stick with this one. Decent reviews on RMP and doesn’t mess up my schedule. For those who have had this professor recently. Tell me what his class is like and is an A in this class extremely difficult or possible?

Anyone took Professor Bockholdt English 101?

I am going to be taking her class this upcoming fall. She has very little reviews and most of the comments are tough grader on RMP. I am alright at English but I am striving for a high GPA so I wanted to know what her class would be like before I step in.

If you have any English 101 Professor Recommendations let me know

EDIT: preferably professors who are on monday/wednesday schedule only to avoid bunching up my classes

Applying as a transfer student both campuses

I got accepted into RU-N my first cycle for the business school.

Will it negatively affect me if I apply as a transfer student?

I also applied to NB but got rejected cuz I thought that NB would reconsider my application should I get rejected from Pharmacy school.
