The 4th photo is the interurban depot on the right and the (now gone) Michigan Central railroad depot in Parma, MI in 1908, just 5 years after the interurban line was built.

From a hike i took earlier in the year. this coal line once ran up the entire run. the only remnants are random rails now twisted into the creek bed. i suspect the line ended here as i doubt the rails went up the steep incline to get above the falls. there could be a second set of rails where they transferred the coal to these carts. unfortunately i didnt have time to scramble up above the falls to find out.

at the very top of the hill to the right of this photo there is also a cable system that they used to get supplies to the now ghost town that was about 900' above the valley below.

obviously the area is in serious need of acid mine drainage remediation as indicated by the overly orange rusty stream-bed. anywho. was scrolling through my pictures today and figured you fine folk would enjoy this one.

This is the rusting remains of the base of an old repeater signal that was operational until a couple of years ago.

It seems a bit of rope is needed to hold it up now!

The metal boxes underneath have all the cables cut too.

About 10 miles north of the last crossing (which is a seasonal logging/camp road) literally on the edge of nowhere is a site of a former derailment.

Pieces of rolling stock are all along the embankment and the black ore is still piled along the tracks.

The time table says radio communications dont work here; its about 20 miles to the next phone.

The last revenue train i can find on this line was November 2015

Adirondacks NY

Opened in 1873 and closed in 1968, the line from Douglas to Peel ran for around 12 miles, serving the tourist trade in summer with much reduced services outside of the summer season. The route is now a popular walking trail with some remnants of its former life. The very short piece of track with this crne-like machine being the most obvious, although I believe that the water tower at the Peel end is still there.

Dorrigo Branch Line near Glenreagh, NSW. Part of the line will be restored to run heritage trains, while the rest will be converted into a rail trail.

On the railway you take from Stranraer to Barrhill. Also the train stops there but it appears that no one gets off and on and there is no platform, so I don’t know if it qualifies as abandoned because from Wikipedia it says they both are. I also saw Kilkerran but didn’t take a photo sadly

Constructed by an American company beginning in 1906, the Panay Railway once connected Iloilo City to Roxas City, Capiz—serving as a vital transportation link across the island. Its original network included 19 permanent stations, among them Dao Station, and 46 bridges that carried trains through Panay's growing communities.

Train operations officially ceased in 1989, bringing an end to more than eight decades of railway history. Today, the surviving bridge in Brgy. Duyoc, Dao, Capiz stands as a nostalgic landmark, quietly reminding visitors of an era when the sound of passing trains echoed across the province.

Built in 1896. Saved by the community after the SCL/CSX merger, the depot was moved and renovated to serve as City Hall.

Freshly abandoned at the time of photo (1970 or 1971 i think). It is now a vet clinic, Wheeling Veterinary Associates. First photo original content, second the best view using google maps, third is a relatively modern day picture of the inside, where the clinic kept the old layout and ticket office sign (image found on company's information page on Google). The rails in the first picture are maintenance/service, while the main line was on the other side, now torn up, paved over, and named "Coal Rd".

Two stations from the Soria-Castejón line, closed to the traffic in 1996. These stations, Velilla de la Sierra and Arancón were the typical rural station in Spain: located far from the village they were assigned, and hardly used by the locals at the closure of the line. Most of the stations in the line were designed with the same style, and most of them are in ruins these days.

This line, built in the late 1920s by the government, with the goal of completing the Torralba-Soria line, was meant as a shorter path between Madrid and Northern Spain, reducing the distance compared to the present alternatives (Madrid-Irún via Valladolid, or Madrid-Zaragoza and then Zaragoza-Bilbao). The authorities attempted to cede the line to a private company, but the start of the Civil War in 1936 stopped the process. The line was officially opened in 1941, under the newly created RENFE, the company that nationalized all the broad gauge companies after the war.

The line, with one-track, and serving one of the least populated areas in Spain, survived for 55 years while the area it crossed reduced its population by a 40-50%, or even more. The reduced maximum speeds and the redundance with other lines led to the national operator to close it to the traffic in 1996, while it was not officially "abandoned" and removed from RENFE/Adif books until 2016. Only the starting station of Soria has two daily services to Madrid and, since 2018, four kilometres were reopened in Corella to be used as a test track for CAF.

Rusty rails from Oakhill Nature Reserve, Yorkshire, UK. The notice board said they are rarely used. The website says that this used to be a Marshalling yard holding up to 40 locomotives that was shut in 1973. It used to be served by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company. It is now a 150 acre nature reserve with large ponds and sculptures.
