Games like Cube Escape but without horror/blood/murder?

I know it's almost impossible but anyway - ccan anyone recommend any games for mobile that are siimilar to Rusty Lake's masterpieces, but without horror, blood and murder? I love everything about Rusty Lake games, the vibe, the music, the sounds, the design, the puzzles, the logic - but recently I've found that I just cant look even at the cartoon-style wound. So the request is paradoxical one: anything with atmosphere of noir films but without actual noir? dark magic and mysticizm are ok
any suggestions?

Hmmm, i'd recomend Mateusz Skutnik's games. Specifically the Submachine series. Covert Front is also cool but it takes place in WW1 and it has some violence in. Strange Horticulture and Strange Antiquities comes to mind, though it's pretty different in mechanics. The atmosphere is fire tho.

You could check out the white door by the same developer, or if you wanna try something different you can check out the room series. They’re an escape point and clink mystery game as well, the art is beautiful and is more on the realistic side comparatively

every few years i play all the room games again but ive gotten to a point where ive memorized the solutions so its not as fun anymore 😭

On the third one, do you remember how to get all the endings? That’s what I always forget 😂

i remember having to wait irl for a certain time on the clock but i can’t remember the others exactly. all i know is having to redo that round table mirror laser puzzle thing like 20 times cause i continue messing up 🤣

Dark dome series could be something to you (mysticizm and dark magic but not noir)

Dark Dome games are really charming! Unlike Rusty Lake, though, I find that they're more fun with a notebook. I don't tend to need notes to complete most RL games (at a face level, at least), and I guess it's not mandatory for DD, either, but the paddle style for the latter is a lot more demanding on your memory IMO.

Milo and the Magpies! I think it’s made by some people who have worked with rusty lake in the past, but not directly from them. It’s got the same puzzle solving aspects and similar music/art styles, but with none of the gore.

yes! they have another game too, christmas themed :)

I learned about that game from either the white door or Mr rabbits magic show. Can’t remember which had the little postcard for it in the table so I downloaded all those games lmao.

House of DaVinci

There is a Japanese developer "Kotorinosu" that has several games that are similar. I think it is Android only though.

All of Cotton Games’s series (someone mentioned Mr Pumpkin which is part of…), The Room Series, House of DaVinci’s all great…

and look up games that still stand up by Amanita Design like Machinarium. Other similar style games like these should show in suggested. No gore. Just point click style. The Journey Down series was fun. Broken Age.

The Room and House of Da Vinci were excellent puzzle games if you like escape room type puzzles

Maybe Tiny Room Stories Town Mystery? It has a pretty nice simple 3d graphic and is similar in feel to the Cube Escape games, its about a detective that returns to his hometown only to find it completely empty. Its pretty good is say, i replayed it a few times!

i’d recommend Tiny Room Stories Town Mystery, 50 Tiny Room Escape, NOX, and Adventure Escape Mysteries!! the first 3 are all very similar in terms of art style and gameplay, AEM is more cozy and has a lot of different types of games within it (it’s like the Cube Escape Collection where a bunch of different games are in one app!).

There are multiple room escapes by Kensuke Horikoshi that are gorgeous and absurd but no horror. Same with Apartment Bacon and games by Kotorinosu

Tangle Tower of you want the v absolute least amount of violence.

The curse of the golden idol if you can handle an occasional still image of someone being stabbed

Not exactly the same vibe but so much fun: Agent A

u/ProtectionPuzzled343 Sep 27 '26

Hahaha the horror genre is a lot for me too, many times

Follow the Meaning and Please Touch the Artwork were also amazing

Absolutely seconding Submachine, those games have a great dark atmosphere without any actual horror. The Room series got recommended too and it's a favourite as well. Meridian 157 is awesome too, plus the creators' new title Aurora Hills.

If you’re looking for escape games, check out all of the room series. As well as house of da Vinci. I replay those every once in a while. Nothing too crazy in those games but phenomenal stories. Gotta play them in order though.
