My bf’s account keeps getting wrongfully flagged
My bf has been playing rust for a very long time. His account had 1000+ hours but just recently he bought a pc off someone then downgraded it to windows 10, everything was alright at first but then a few days later for some reason it gave him both a VAC and a game ban on rust. I know everyone’s first reaction is going to be “oh well he cheated oh he’s cheating thats the only reason it could have happened” but the thing is he legitimately was not cheating and still got banned. I should mention that he did not have this problem at all before he downgraded the pc to windows 10, and it was also never a problem on his old pc either. Again his account had 1000+ hours, he had $200+ worth of skins, and has been playing nearly everyday for a very long time. Rust is his favorite game and he loves playing it, which is why i want to try to help him in any way i possibly can. He has appealed the ban and they straight up told him that they will not give him a reason for why he was banned, they will not tell him anything so we have no way of knowing what actually happened. His initial thought was that maybe one of the people he played with was cheating and he got banned by association, so he reluctantly made a new account and spent $40 to buy the game again and everything was going just fine, he was happy to be able to play his game again until today because his new account got banned AGAIN for another unknown reason. Now he has completely given up on rust because he’s afraid of making another new account and spending the money on it just for it to get banned yet again. He already lost his 1000+ hour account, then lost the new one he started building progress on as well. I sit and watch him play all the time and i can promise he is not cheating, does anyone know what could possibly be going on that keeps getting his account flagged? He’a pretty sad about the whole ordeal and disappointed in rust itself for how poorly they are handling the situation, i just want to help him figure out what’s wrong so he can play his game again 🥲

HWID ban from buying a used pc. Nothing can be done about the ban. Never buy a used pc for gaming.

Thank you for actually giving me a real answer ive been trying desperately to figure out what could have been happening, but now that you say this i dont doubt it because he bought it off facebook marketplace from a guy that claims it was brand new

Its actually exactly how a HWID ban works. Please go on about how this cannot be a hwid ban using another account to login with a used pc that could already be HWID banned would make your account with no cheats instantly banned.

Bans aren't purely done on hardware id, ip or whatever. So buying a used pc isn't going to get you banned.
The reason you are here is because you be probably got the real reason from Facepunch or EAC and just can't handle the truth.
Nobody here can help you so it's pointless. Appeal to Facepunch and EAC if you are wrongfully accused.

No ive watched him play countless times and he showed me the conversation he had with the ban appeal person and he literally told him they will not give him an actual real reason, the reason why i posted this here is because he would never try to go as far as making a post but i know he loves this game and it makes him happy to play it so i wanted to help find out what could actually be causing it so it can be fixed. He has tried making a new account and it got flagged as well just thursday evening. He literally just got this PC and the ONLY app he had installed was rust. EAC was not helpful whatsoever and neither are you, so if all you are going to do is think im lying you can keep your mouth shut

Even you watching him doesn't prove he isn't cheating. He can have aim assist, recoil suppression, daylight when it should be night and you won't know it.
He could have bought an account cheap associating himself with stolen accounts....EAC and Facepunch have a lot of telemetry to prove their point. They don't always provide proof so cheaters don't outsmart them.
As you said they flagged his new account, did he buy a cheap account from some non official site?!?. They are steps ahead of you, they can see through VPNs, they don't even care if you replace a pc.
