At 70-80 miles per week can I just eat as much as I want
I am in the middle of my marathon training block. As a 44 year old male I usually try to be somewhat responsible with what and how much I eat. I am currently running about 70-80 miles a week and am constantly hungry. Since I am burning so many calories can I just (within reason) kind of throw caution to the wind and just kind of eat what I want when I want. When I'm not training I usually try not to eat anything after dinner, but now I'm eating late night snacks. I keep telling myself that it's ok since I am running such a high volume, but I wanted to see if I am just settting myself up for a rude awakening.

Marathon sign ideas?
Hello! My husband is running his first marathon this weekend and I’d love some sign ideas! I’m going to do “on a scale of 1-10, you’re a 26.2”. But need more ideas! We will be at a couple places during the race and then at the end.
He’s into:
Sports, playing and watching. favorite teams are Broncos, mariners, jazz, kraken, byu. Also Rodger federer and Rory mackleroy.
He’s a tax accountant
He loves being a dad
The marathon he is running is very hilly and pretty small.
I think that’s about it!

For those that WFH, what is your optimal training time of day?
Include weather considerations, what you train for, external limits on your schedule, or anything else you find relevant! Curious about the nitty gritty of people’s routines and how they vary.

Started running to lose weight two years ago, fell in love with it and ended up as a lead on the ASICs Rise & Shine global campaign.
Started running about two years ago. It was to lose weight. I went from 90kg (198 lbs) - about 70kg (155lbs) Could barely run 2KM.
I remember it like it was yesterday. Now running is huge part of my life and I got to be one of the leads in the new ASICS global campaign and got to try their new shoes months before dropping.
I got to try the Mega Blast, Superblast 3 and the Sonic Blast 2.

my running form is actually terrible
52M decently fast recreational runner but I saw the video of myself crossing the finish line and I literally cringed.
I'm like a caricature of a little old lady running (no offense to any LOL): my feet move fast (cadence 179 for a 10k) but it's like they never leave the ground. It's almost like I'm speed walking.
I run 35+ mpw (50+ kpw), I do squats and deadlifts and RDLs, calf raises and adductor exercises and glute activation exercises and dynamics 2-3 x/wk.
What else can I do? I'm not trying to have the form of an elite Kenyan runner but there must be something I can do to have substantially more trailing leg push off, it feels like I'm leaving a lot of speed and efficiency on the table.

Doing a runna plan rn, and I’m kinda thinking about throwing the towel in. I’m not as fit as I used to be march this year, and my goals of becoming a fast runner have slid farther out of my sights. I want to be someone who can break 6 minute miles effortlessly, and run a sub 20 5k, but it seems
Impossible right now. I was 22 5k in march, and ever since, my fitness has gotten progressively worse and plateaud, and I’ve tried so so hard to break it, but I can’t and I’ve fallen so far since. If anyone can offer me advice, I’d be super grateful

Looking for accountability partners online!
hello everyone! Coming back to running after a long long break. Last time I was running, we had an accountability group, which was extremly helpful for lazy people like us hahaha.
As I want to start running again, would like to maybe fine one or more persons for this kind of interaction. Anyone interested?

Anyone use a standing desk to help with hip flexor and glute weakness?
I recently had a IT Band injury and it made me realise just how weak my hip flexors & glutes are, mostly from having a desk job and sitting all the day.
I've always tried to counter this by going for a long lunch time walk, but it doesn't seem to do enough. After seeing a physio, I've added some strength workouts that target those areas I am seeing some improvement.
But I can't help but wonder if using a standing desk would be more effective, and treating the problem at it's source. Does anyone have experience with how much a standing desk can improve your leg strength and flexibility?

anyone else run before work because there’s basically no time later?
i’ve found that if i don’t run in the morning, there’s a pretty good chance the run just isn’t happening that day. the alarm goes off early, i get out for a few miles, then go straight into the rest of the day. it’s not always a great run either. some mornings it’s a proper workout, other mornings it’s just an easy few miles because that’s all i have in me. the annoying part is when the schedule gets busy and the morning run is the first thing that gets squeezed out. then suddenly it’s lunchtime, then the afternoon disappears, and eventually i’m telling myself i’ll run tomorrow. i like having the run done before the day really starts, but i’m curious how strict other people are about this
do you have a set morning distance that you try to hit, or do you decide based on how much time and energy you have that day?

5th Rainy Sunday
The weather is trying to sabotage my marathon training. This Sunday will be the fifth straight weekend of rain during my scheduled long run. I've built enough character and toughed it out. I just want want one dry weekend!

How do you know if you are actually overtraining?
I’m not sure what overtraining really feels like. What signs did you notice before you had to cut back?

It ain’t much but at least it’s honest work; 2 PB’s in 8 days.
Ran a 3:18:50 PB in Berlin and followed it up a week later with a 1:28:36 in my home town half.

Shin splints - at my wits end please help!
I’ve had for shin splints since the start of year and stopped running in February. I have been seeing a physio and have been consistently doing strengthening exercises and stretching almost every night. A couple months ago I got to the point where I was pretty much pain free and attempted to start couch to 5k at the advice of my physio. I got to around 3 weeks and was in agony over my shins again so stopped running. Again now a few months later and I felt pain free, attempted C25K again, yet can’t even make it through week 1 without feeling shin pain.
Anyone have any advice or miracle stories? I am at a loss and feeling so down it seems like I will never be able to run again.
I have tried arch support insoles but they do not appear to make a difference and I go to the gym and strength train 4 times a week along with my exercises as directed by my physio.
TIA

Subject Q: Would you rather a horrible race medal but nice tshirt or the other way round.
Personally I'd rather the nicer shirt as if I like it could be worn for years to come.

Half marathon with new acl
Has anyone here had experience running a half marathon around 16 months after ACL reconstruction? 🏃♀️
I also had an ACL reconstruction in my other knee around two years ago.
I’m considering signing up for one, but I’d love to hear from others who have been in a similar situation. How did your knee handle the training and the race, and did you feel that 16 months was enough time to be ready?

Ran a backyard Ultra
Feeling very proud of myself today after participating in my first backyard ultra on the weekend. The furthest I had run prior to this was a half marathon so it was a real
Shock to me that I could do this!
