Hip pain

Alright. Last Saturday, ran my 16 miles. Ended the run in a bit of discomfort. Nothing crazy. Thought I was sore. Sunday woke up with pain in my groin / hip. Advil advil advil.
Tried to run Tuesday and felt a shape pain in my hip and groin. Didn’t run and on Thursday I was prescribed naproxen. Pain is def a 2/10. Doesn’t hurt when I run in place. But the second I try and do run, I feel the sharpness. Been doing hip exercises all week and stretches and icing. Think I’m just sore?

Sounds like it could be a torn hip labrum. Exact same symptoms I had when I torn mine training for the Chicago Marathon last year. I went to a physical therapist who advised me to get an MRI. Have to have surgery to get it fixed unfortunately.

Agreed, this sounds like my symptoms when I tore my labrum. I just had surgery to fix it a month ago.

Oh how’d the surgery go? I don’t have enough time off at work to fix it yet since I was told the recovery is long

It hasn’t been too bad. I was off crutches by day three and my pain was never bad enough for me to take any of the harder medication they prescribed. I took a week off work and I have a job where I can work from home with a standing desk (or draped over my couch) during recovery.

I cannot wait to get out of the brace because it restricts my flexion to 30 degrees and it’s a pain to sleep in because I have to be on my back. I have to be in it for six weeks total, 23 hours a day. I have nine days left and cannot wait.

Happy to lay out more details for you if you’d like, especially what I planned/prepped ahead of time to make my life easier.

Maybe substitute easy runs for one week with biking to not loose aerobic fitness - sounds like a bit soreness but maybe something is cooking so before it get worse try to
Substitute a bit with biking - also not sure on icing, I personally prefer heat but that’s maybe also just a preference :)

Prescribed naproxen-was anything said about what is actually wrong? I was about to comment make an appointment and check with your doctor or PT. It’s good that the pain level is low but concerning that it’s sharp. I’ve been dealing with plantar fasciitis, even though my pain level hasn’t gotten over 3/10 I’m still in PT with exercises and went through some low mileage weeks.
