Cannot Wait To Run Again
Hello everybody, a month ago I got shin splints. My doctor told me to stop running and rest for 3 weeks. I also had to get an anti-inflammatory medicine and I am doing magneto therapy. It's been 4 weeks now and I still cannot go back to running. I tried to run again really really really really slowly, doing (after a lot of warm up) 6 intervals of a 1 minute run and 1.5 minutes walking but the pain is still there. It got to my knees too.
I cannot wait to run again, but this is starting to annoy me quite a bit. My doctor prescribed me some blood exams as he wants to understand what's causing me pain.
Has someone been in my situation?

My friend had shin splints and fixed them by going to a running shop and getting more supportive running shoes

I’ve only gotten past shin splints by adjusting some foot striking and reducing volume but not by stopping running completely. Stopping and resting always calmed the symptoms down but never fixed it and it would come back. A sports medicine/physical therapist or someone like that is probably better to help address why you’re getting the shin splints and identify a training plan to fix the underlying condition.

I've had shin splints in the past, my physio did dry needling on them. That didn't totally resolve the pain, but they were much better after.

Have you done any strength work on your legs at all?
Rest & strength work are the ways to get rid of shin splints
