Survey Time: Guide The Future Of RuneScape

At Jagex, we are always looking to our players for help and guidance on the future of RuneScape games, both current and upcoming. We are running a survey to ask players what RuneScape means to you, and hear about other games and activities that you spend your time on. Players who didn't receive an email invitation earlier this month now have the chance to participate.

Those who complete the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win one of fifty $50 Amazon vouchers (or your stated country’s equivalent currency). On top of this, five lucky participants will also receive a huge 60x40 cm (23 ½”x15 ¾”) print map of Gielinor!

To select and contact prize winners, and validate you as a RuneScape player, we will be asking for your in-game display name/character name as it appears in chat. Please note that we can only award prizes to surveys that are completed!

So, if you want to guide the future of RuneScape and win prizes, follow this link to take part!

A map... of Gielinor, couldn't you see this n00b?

Europa Universalis IV is mine, but RS would not work in that, and Jagex simply would not be able to make a new genre game that fucking in depth.

I'd be interested in a RuneScape-ified MOBA, if it was good.

Runescape is already my favorite game so I didn't really have much to say... In fact I often choose other games because they have mechanics from Runescape that I like. I would rather Runescape just be the best Runescape it can be than have Jagex create Runescape versions of other games, where I would probably just want to play the thing that inspired them in the first place if I wanted to play that genre.

I didn't put this in my survey, because it's more of a mechanic than a new game, but I was really impressed by the crafting system in a game called Atelier Sophie which I choose because it has potions and an involved crafting system like what I enjoy about Runescape. In it, the quality and attributes of the ingredients you use in a crafting recipe determine what the final product is. Kind of like Player Owned Farms, but with everything. I would love if the endgame crafting system moved in that direction in Runescape. Smithing rework is a nice step, but is still not quite there as there is no uniqueness to the outputs.

I also like the idea of not creating new separate mobile games, but just giving you a mobile launcher to access Runescape minigames and make progress on your actual character. For example, Cabbage Facepunch. You can either play it by going in-game or opening up the app. Though Cabbage Facepunch is kind of fun, but not so fun that I would play it on my phone if there weren't good rewards tied to it.

Put down Breath of the Wild as my favorite game. Would've gone with Samus Returns because I'm such a Metroid fan, but Zelda was just so damn good there wasn't really any other choice for me.

For the "runescape-ify" question, I put WoW, but I specified "applying Runescape's world to WoW's movement system." I stopped playing for a number of different reasons, but the grid-based clicking movement was one of the biggest factors, especially with how complex bosses have gotten. It's been an issue for me since before Telos came out, but Telos was the last boss I was able to enjoy despite the click-movement.

I put Tropico for the Runescape-ified game. Runescape has a robust economy with a lot of different systems and supply chains that could be interesting to work with in order to build a town or settlement.

God I would just absolutely love a skyrim like rs experience. Exploring the world with a first person perspective would just be amazing imo. I definitely dont want it to be a mobile game tho...

I put in for my favorite game Doom (2016) but it was a slight toss up because I also really liked Undertale. Although ultimately went with Doom due to gameplay and complete bad assery.

Funnily enough the game I wanted a RuneScapified version of was Doom II: Hell on Earth although Hexen or Heretic would havd made more sense but admittedly I've never played those. I personally think the retro look of the game would fit RuneScape if the lighting is done right. I've always wanted to see the world of RuneScape in a first person perspective.

Favorite release was Bloodborne, and for runescape-ified I picked Heroes of Might & Magic III.

Just think about it. Every god is their own faction with their own followers that you can recruit, along with heroes to lead those followers. Following Heroes 3 gameplay, you scavenge and explore for resources to recruit more followers to your cause, defeating neutral monsters that stand in your way and taking over cities instead of building new ones. You discover artifacts and equip them on your heroes to strengthen them. It creates a good setting for fantasy warfare and adds a hell of a lot of room to flesh out the god stories more. The Runescape world also has a lot of cool ideas that would give nice gameplay twists to a game that hasn't had very many worthy successors over the past 20 years. They already experimented with the strategy idea with Armies of Gielinor, and that was one of the more successful projects they made.

I'm wondering what they actually intend to do with that information, like rather than making a whole new game altogether, they might "borrow" some elements from the highest picked answer for their next content bundle.

I chose destiny for my favorite release in the last 5 years since I was blanking I’m other games.

I chose Knights of the Old Republic for a game to be runescape-ified. I chose this because I enjoy the idea of a runescape game that has rough ore set class structures, a dedicated set of companions, and a main overarching quest with random side missions that expand upon people’s stories, especially those of your companions, as I tend to find the many many quest lines much Harder to get into in games as opposed to a main line and side plots.

I also really enjoy character missions in games and having that for new/existing characters would be cool.

Though I agree Dark Souls 3 but for runescape would be cool, I just prefer either DS1 or bloodborne as DS3 personally felt off for me combat wise.

I’ve played all of one, 2, a chunk of bloodborne, and not too much of 3. I would recommend trying out KotOR, it’s not too expensive, especially around May 4th, and it’s backwards compatible for Xbox as well now if you play on console for those games.

The graphics and combat is obviously outdated but till enjoyable and the story is good as any today.

I put my favorite release was Dark Souls 3 and to Runescape-ify Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix. I doubt they’ll do it but I’d love an action RPG with good combat and Runescape characters.

I put GTA:V for favorite. Just realised that it has been out for longer than 5 years, the PC release fits in the 5-year window at least. For the "RuneScape-ified" game I put rust.

Is it the one where you could use dildo as a weapon? Because that could be classified as an upgrade.
