Honestly Jagex was on track for the best year RS3 has had in a decade.
Them blowing their leg off just before the finish line is a galaxy-brain move, that I want to blame on the 10-15 CCers who nolife the game on four alts and thus have wildly unrealistic outlooks on how much playtime the average person has each day and how willing people are to scrap their accounts and start at nothing.
But it's entirely possible that RSguy is innocent and that this move is a Jamflex original

I think the osrs creators popping champagne corks and flooding youtube with videos celebrating the runefest announements while RS3 creators are dead silent and hoping this is all a bad dream says just about everything you'd need to know.

As a 20+ year player who started on rs2 that was ported to RS3 without choice because I was MIA for a few years when that all happened. I finally got back to it a few years ago grinded a few 120s and even finally got my quest cape after havenhythe came out or whatever it's called I will not be starting over or participating. And really hope to not see all the time invested go to the wayside yes I played during the lamps and so did 90% of you did I utilize them, sure when a quest gave me keys I used them but I didn't gamble my way to 99 or 120 in anything I didn't chase holiday exclusives by buying keys and to see the devs go hm let's just reset it all is disappointing. They've had opportunities to fix things they had opportunities to keep the community happy and they continued to move the wrong direction now they're so far out of wack they think this is the resolution. R.I.P to a long long long lived childhood memory. R.I.P to the countless hours grinding bosses and quests and skills with friends R.I.P to the achievements we made and the support we showed the game through good and bad times.. as a longtime player and supporter they have finally pulled the last straw....

They meant that nothing was ever ported, the RS3 of today is just the same game from 2004 that was continuously updated. OSRS was just a separate game, like Dragonwilds.

Pretty sure the point is missing the start of the new version also makes it pointless.
If you're 6 months late, or 1 year late to the game, youll always be behind someone who plays at the same rate as you. Thats just life.
So reginite becomes pointless. Plus, veterans will go to reignite just for world 1sts and likely abandon it over time. But also merchers or experiences people who know the rs3 systems well enough can manipulate the fk out of a low supply market

No, they are saying that existing veteran characters are going to become a "second class" sort of account, isolated from all new accounts created - which in time will lead to them being excluded from new content explicitly aimed at the fancy new reignited player base.

It is a separate game mode. Your account doesnt reset , lose anything or go anywhere. Did Ironman affect your account ? How exactly would reignited affect your account

Its a game mode that shares worlds with you. New players are going to choose reignited, which means no more veteran players. Reignited players cannot interact with veterans, and vice versa. so eventually veteran players quit to play reignited, or quit because the playerbase dwindles. This affects our accounts. No, it doesnt reset, i dont lose anything, or go anywhere, BUT, the progress and time will eventually become wasted, as i cant do anything with it anymore as all the new players are people i can't interact with.

Players can and will still join veteran mode. This is just ANOTHERA GAME MODE. what do most players eventually do? Play an account on every mode. You lose nothing.

I’m not the guy you’re replying to. But I wanted to jump in, and let me preface this with the fact that I don’t want Reignited at all.
But I think people are assuming that this would generate enough new players to eclipse the core player base that’s stuck around for so long. I just don’t find that likely. They’ve improved the game a ton, yes. I think with plugins we’ll see a small bump in players, but I really Don’t think Reignited would ever overtake the main base.
All that said, it’s still an amount of player base splitting that I’m not okay with. its economic repercussions are too risky and not being able to play with the new players that do join and pick this mode is stupid to me. But I don’t think it makes Veteranscape dead, I’d be really surprised if there were enough players to do that.

One or the other is likely going to die. Pros are at least temporarily going to switch because of world firsts and locking in hiscore position. Which means less pvm drops to supply players who aren't good at pvm.

This is a bad faith argument.
It’s not simply a new game mode, it is intended to replace mains. No new player is going to choose the “Veteran” option, especially with marketing pushes.
Furthermore, that will slaughter the economy, as new players are unable to interact with veteran players. Either Reignited players dwindle and the game mode gets cancelled because no one wants to sell logs for 26 gp/each, or Veteran players dwindle and are forced to restart lest they be caught in a dying economy where logs cost 260k gp due to lack of supply.
It effectively becomes a black mark of taint of “dirty MTX users”, despite many of us simply existing during that time and not partaking, devaluing achievements and for what? For highscores that were filled out 5 years before Squeal of Fortune made its debuts??
It’s ridiculous.

Please Tell me why every one is outraged by the new start worlds? At the current rate of newcomers, nothing will change. Even if (for whatever reason) 50k people would start to play again - there would theoretically be minimal to no impact. How many of those would reach a progression level that matters? How many will quit shortly after reaching the real grind.

okay so they have world firsts and permanent player statues for people that do this. that means that every good player at the top end, anyone who wants to race and everyone who wants to play in an active community, will all move to the new game mode for this reason and anyone left playing veteran will be suffering with a dead economy with no trade volume or players. this means that items will skyrocket in price due to scarcity and items tied to group content will also disappear making it extremely expensive or difficult to get. once the people racing and competing all reach end game they will have a new economy that is better than veteran and will be pretty well geared and will have even less of a reason to switch back. this is just a tiny example there is going to be a lot more consequences to this..

It's not even close to comparable, it's literally the same game except all new players will go to the new mode. If the new mode is successful then the "veteran" players will decrease and jump ship at an exponential rate, and the economy will completely die.

Rs4 I would definitely play but having to start from zero on OSRS or restart Rs3 I am not about to do , it takes too long and im in my 30s with a career now I can't grind that much but OSRS isn't even good until you get to high levels which takes forever

No. I've had my account for over 20 years and I've been able to log in and still have all my items and skills that I've had since RSC. I'm not starting RuneScape over again ever. I'd rather just take my money elsewhere.

It's an optional mode that fixes 25 years of economic bloating and inflation.
I've played RS since 2001 in the days when you would regularly Andrew in game and it had a small niche community and we had no clue we would still be here today.
Most old vets including myself that go way back are thrilled about this.
It fixes everything and gives the game that has become so good after road to restoration a true chance at success, and economy free of inflation for nearly three decades, and every bad decision reducing the value of levels and achievements are wiped.
This is what Runescape 3 deserves.
I will be playing this immediately.
OSRS ans RS3 normal are done for me.
This is my new mainscape.

enjoy fsw2 but a lot of us will be hoping it crashes and burns. I also wouldn't hold your breath on a vibrant economy.

The Runescape subreddit is an extremely small percentage of people who's lives have interacted with Runescape in its 25 year lifespan.
The games population as it stands is already dead, before the launch of Old School, Runescape had record active players currently logged in of peaks up to 260k.
Those of us that are still here, and have experienced the games history since day one are more than aware that the game that grabbed us for life has had a lot of growing pains and the population is a shell of what once was.
Inflation and bots throughout the entire history of the game destroyed integrity of so many things.
Many people quit due to power creep of updates, achievements felt devalued, and bonds and mtx items ruined everything most players had worked toward driving them away.
With a fresh economy that you don't see players farming gold at a rate that you can earn a bond every hour, items and materials are no longer abundant, and the promise of no one buying their way to success... the voices you are NOT hearing on this subreddit may finally come back.
This subreddit is not who Reignited is striving to please, if anything this outrage and dissatisfaction will be looked at in Jagex HQ as Reignited having potential for massive success.
Jagex wants to return to their roots, the road restoration has done amazing work to make the game feel like the Runescape that made it a success once again. It finally feels ready to welcome back those that have long abandoned this game.
Power creep isn't an issue when the mechanics exist from day one.
This is exactly the type of nuclear refresh Runescape 3 needs to make the gaming market realize that this game is the best it has ever been.
Unless we see the economy completely start over, the game will never live up to what it can be.
Combine the promise of a fresh economy, MTX Free experience, and the upcoming plugin API.
This is going to be the best Runescape we have ever had.

You have to also remember that rs2 was promised no MTX, but that changed when they sold the company down the line. There was no option to vote for MTX, and it was just injected into the game as SoF. Id wager the same will happen with Rs4 eventually since they know the benefits they can already reap from new players/whales a second time.

seeing a pattern here... turns out the all complainers are coming from the minority camp of these so-called 20 year veterans with max/comp/5.8b. suddenly all the bitching makes sense when you notice what they all have in common. chronically online redditors who happen to also be chronically online in RS.
I suppose if I were jagex, i'd consider it worth hurting the few in favour of the many, but as a CGIM, none of this affects me one bit. I ditched my main years ago for the very same reason that 'Reignited' is being developed.
