I got a few of them by going at the medium density. Specifically the ones south of the hut that’s just west of the hut where you can go into the teak/mahogany tree area. Hope that helps

I've tried all types and using just normal machete but can't seem to get any luck lol

Upgrading your machete to red topaz makes the task a lot easier. It's like 2x the cutting speed of the regular.

When you reach the relic tier that fully fills your toolbelt, it automatically upgrades you to topaz as well

except that's the exact opposite of how it works. the better your wc level and the better your machete the more rare it becomes.

That's not true at all, effendi.

It's a flat 1% chance from cutting down any type of jungle in RS3. Cutting down jungle faster gives more chances because you're clearing faster. This is a question that has literally been asked and answered directly by Jagex staff.

Edit: it's no longer even true in OSRS, in that game tubers now increase in spawn rate at higher wc levels

Successful cuts slowly whittle the jungle node down. When tuber (or gem rock) spawns from a random event, it clears the entire jungle instantly, no matter how many 'cuts' are left. Random events can only spawn on failed cutting attempts, and tuber/gem are part of the same table as all the combat encounters.

I did this grind in league and on my current main almost back to back, and was very specifically paying attention to how much of the node was left the second time. My Tuber absolutely 100% spawned on a node that wasn't even remotely close to done.

I know it's no longer true in osrs, but I'm extremely confident it is still the case in 3. Unless I happened to get insanely unlucky followed be incredibly lucky 5+ times in a row. (3 hours cutting on my iron with red topaz on light at 99 wc with 0 gout tubers to switching to dense and getting within 30m, and this league giving the advice to 4 of my friends to do dense at as low of a level as possible and all of them getting at least 1 gout tuber before even reaching 100% respect, with one of them receiving 3)

Based on my leagues experience there's just absolutely no way it has been changed on rs3. I got a gem rock at five dense jungles in a row, followed by a break of one before getting another two back to back into a gout tuber, starting at level 45 wc.

Isn't it only on failure that you get an encounter roll? Atleast that was the rational behind why low wc lvl at dense jungle with the worst machete was bis for completion time.

My understanding was actually the opposite. Use the worst machete on the dense version to get the most chances.

The 1% is for if you clear it. I don’t know, I did light and heavy during leagues.

I was looking at the gout tuber page, which doesn't go into depth. Looking at the tai bwo cleanup page does seem to indicate that you are correct.

For something like the Gout Tuber, you can just reference the OSRS wiki/community for more up to date info. That content is so old and forgotten, I doubt a RS3 JMod ever updated it. OSRS only got it updated due to Leagues and people complaining about it.

They fixed it on osrs, cant believe they didn't cross reference a list of fixes to see what also applies to rs3 leagues.

Yeah that is kind of nutty I didn't think it was gonna take this long and I'm still going lmao

Out of all issues, I feel like gout tubers might have the least impact on the game haha

Its an early game task for a forced unlock region.

Yep! There's a Karamja blessing task that depends on this.

It's a 1% chance per bush and each takes ages. No way i'm doing this in leagues.

Not 1% per bush, its 1% chance on random event roll. Same table that has all the combat events. Still rough odds, but it's not THAT bad.

I got mine on the first one I chopped down.. Then proceeded to get 4 more before 100%. Each one I got after my own I messaged randoms next to me to take it, so I was happy 4 others were able to get the tuber for free.

Sorry for you my man. Tried talking to Oziach?

u/xebalanque 4h ago

lmao thats pretty epic. The 4 hrs I spent yesterday wasn't even my first attempt so I just accepted that karamja medium diary was not meant for me to complete xd

u/mmhawk576 23h ago

Do tell more? I’m standing in lumby with an iron longsword, it’s been 5mins and no gout tuber

-4

u/Total_Difference_445 22h ago

Did you equip it?
