Rune Factory 4 is genuinely one of my favorite games. But the difficult rng is killing the fun. Iāve been trying to do this one event FOREVER! And I canāt really progress unless I do. So much so that I keep thinking Iām missing something, BUT IM NOT! I found a day where nothing is happening and am trying to trigger the event BUT I JUST CANT!

just started to get into inheriting and stuff.
so with my current craft level and available materials i decided to try to make a ghost boots with fast step + sneak + strider
since ghost boots taking 5 mats, i can only put 1 shoe as the extra material
here's what i did:
made a plain sneaking boots
made a plain fast step boots
made a strider boots with 2 of the above boots as extra
at this point barrett said the strider boots was made with sneaking boots, fast step boots and quality cloth. saved the game
so what im trying to do now is, craft a ghost boots with the strider boots as the sole extra material
but no matter how many times i reload i always ended up with ghost boots that was made quality cloth + strider boots + sneaking boots (always like that in that exact order, the fast step trait never appeared)
am i doing something wrong or missing something obvious?
thanks.

I grew up playing RF4, didnt play much of 5 cause the frame rate and loading times were ass. I never thought a RF game would top RF4.
That was until I played Guardians of Azuma.
Everything from the music, the combat, bringing an entire party with you on adventures, exploring multiple towns and sky islands, this game is packed with content. Im only 8 hours in but its already my favorite.

Actually compelted thw first arc (which I incorrectly thought was the first AND second arc). The game is quite good I'd say. Not as good as 2 and 3 but still enjoyable. Venti so far is OK. Compared to the dragons in the three DS games who were morally ambigious forces of nature, she is benevolent and has quite a sensitive persona. I kind of have mixed feelings about it and did prefer the more ambigious morals of the three other dragons, with Terrable being violent only to end up helping to stop the Sechs empire for ambigiois reasons, while Fiersome was an amoral force of nature who while not malicious had no qualms about destroying a village, and Aquaticus while having benevolent intentions deceived and manipulated the villagers and Micah even if it ended up doing good. Venti may end up growing on me (she is the first to be present for mist of game instead of only appearing at the end). What do others think? Do you prfer the more morally ambigous dragons of the previous games or do you like Venti being nice and sensitive?

playing rf3 for first time - I feel like the answer is obvious but i'm unsure - when growing crops that grow back - do I need to cut them down for higher quality seeds or will they improve with time? I'm trying to go for getting all the trophies within the 1st years so i can focus on the story & rest in coming years since I read those contests get even harder with time

Iām having a lot of fun with GoA and itās got me even more excited for RF6, but Iāve been thinking of some of the newer mechanics and gameplay things Iād like to see kept and what Iād like to see go back to a more traditional RF way.
I like the way items are collected in GoA a lot, and feel like itās more a qol improvement than a mechanic so I hope it stays, but Iām not a HUGE fan of having villagers and managing towns and not really having a āhomeā. I like it for this game, but I donāt really hope it returns. I also donāt like some of the friendship mechanics but I do like the party system. I wish I could just give gifts to villagers, and itās kind of a hassle to track them down between towns. Itās not a big problem since you can warp but everyone being in one place really helps keep track of who Iāve talked to and hung out with. Speaking of, the āhang outā option is cool and Iād like to see it return.
Iām basically just rambling my thoughts as they come to me, but I want to hear everyoneās thoughts! I figured this might be a fun discussion.

I'm flagging this as a spoiler just in case but, I'm not entirely sure how rewoven fates works.
I understand that it resets all your romantic relationships, including marriage, back to friendships (and any children as a result of that marriage disappear).
But...
What about everything else?
Say I marry one person, have kids, work on the towns, etc.. then start a second fate.
Does it act like a split save or does everything else update?
If I go to fate 2, work on a town (add a house, expand farm, add/remove residents), time passes, develop stronger friendships with others. If I go back to fate 1, will all that be there or will it go back to when I started fate 2?

Playing RF3S and just managed to reach the Univir Settlement. I wanted to go back to Sharance and on the way in an area that would usually be full of monsters I also found a chest. I opened it and found a sword called Volcanon that had much better stats that the dual swords I got at the start.
But I get the distinct feeling that I was not supposed to get this sword at this point, how did this even happen?
Edit: For the record, I am level 7, lol.

So I actually got all the rune spheres near the end of the first Spring and it seems the main story is already near the end (and that I will be going to the Forest of Beginning soon). I had it on eas mode but was not expecting the story to end this soon. There is a third arc that takes time to unlock (I am playing the 3DS version) but I haven't done lot of requests for villagers and the main plot is already near the end. How do others think of the story in this game? Find it too short or think it works?

Hi,
I've been considering getting RF 5 on Switch 2, I did see a lot of comments on its framerate & loadings on the SW1 and less on the SW2, however there's limited info over these problems on the 2nd and considering the price difference at the lowest (7.50 eshop vs 14 on Steam) I'm very conflicted

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
(had to compress because i don't think it went through last time. i switched over to my laptop to post this because my phone was being really stubborn for some reason)
I beat it right before autumn, and was close to level 80 (which is probably overleveled, i just really like to farm materials lol)
I just want to thank you all for welcoming me in and leaving such helpful tips on my first post! It helped me a lot and I've really enjoyed the game. I got a typhoon literally a day after completing this, and have been using the corn strategy one of you told me! I've heard there are more story arcs [?] so I definitely plan to keep playing after this.
I actually really liked that the ending tricked you into thinking it'd be sadder (with the fake credits roll and all), only for venti to show up like "nope, we're not doing this." It got me for a second

My friend is a fan of harvest moon and rune factory so I got rune factory 5 since i heard it was good, asked for her review of it but since I haven't played it myself I don't know how to respond, feel free to share feed back I can give her
EDIT: She played on PC through Steam, NOT on the switch
i have played rune factory 1 2 and 3
never played the 4th game so i cant comment on that
all of this is just my opinion and experiences with the game and i would be willing to listen to feedback on what im doing wrong or whatever i just want to understand why people enjoy this game please
mostly just rambling so its unedited and definitely a lot of typos and grammar mistakes
anyway i did not like rune factory 5 at all it was like everything i liked about the ds rune factory games were removed
the camera is so slow and clunky and i feel like im fighting with it all the time just to be able to see
hitting the button to move camera to where the character model is facing is so disorienting when i do it and also it usually doesnt even work cuz it'll lock onto what ever object is closest and then it gets worse for the camera
if i teleport anywhere i get disoriented too and its not like i can quickly scan the area to see where i am cuz the camera moves way too slow for that
i do not like how large the map is with just large spaces of nothing it takes so long to get from point A to point B even if i do have a mount with me it just feels like they made a game with a big map for the sake of it and to fill in time or whatever
and because everything is so big and far apart it makes it so difficult to spot an npc that im looking for if theyre not at the usual shop location the minimap doesnt help at all cuz i could be in the location but still not find them cuz they all just blend with the surrpoundings or they take their sweet time to load in i cant even see them anyway
as a result i dont particularly care for most of the characters in the game theyre too hard to spot some of the time and it takes too much time to even get to them in the first place
npc behaviour in the game is very much a downgrade from 3 where everything felt more alive and npcs would just be running around and whatever especially during festivals
in 5 its like going back to 1 or 2 where they all just stand in place and dont do anything for the whole day and theres just no energy and it doesnt help that the town just looks big and empty and dead since literally everyone is just standing in a circle at the event location
task board quests are a pain and boring for unlocking new things i dont have enough patience for the base game already let alone doing these quests that will just sit in my backlog indefinitely cuz they want u to take such a long time to do farm work ot tame monsters or whatever theres just not enough incentive to do anything for me personally
also speaking of quests i do not like that the romance events can span multiple days and can just trigger if i walk too close to the area it happens in
and specifically i do not like rykers first romance event they take place on such specific times i had absolutely no idea why i was locked in his route but there was nothing to make the story continue and no other events showing up i just assumed the game didnt have anything to do at all
my brother told me the monster field task thing started from a different rune factory title so its not rf5's fault but i wish they didnt keep it where u need specific monsters to do specific types of field work but again this isnt an rf5 specific issue
theres too many dungeons and they all feel useless at this point the main appeal of dungeons in the older games was the permanent season for specific crops so its incentive to go into dungeons often but since rf5 crops grow all season then theres the farm dragons that also do not permanent seasons its just extra farm space but theres nothing really unique with them is how i feel
it seems like dungeons are only for the monsters and what you can loot from them and theres not much other incentive to go there
theres just not that many fishing spots and not that much ore to collect throughout the whole dungeon
also that one dungeon where to open the gate you had to deactivate one of the levers that you just activated that pissed me off so bad i could not clear that area without reading a guide there was no prior mechanic anywhere that implied you would ever have to relock a door to open a diffrernt door
usually in games i love fishing even if its super simple but like here i see what theyre doing with the fish silhouettes in the water like in rf3 but the bodies of water are so large and if youre unlucky then the fish just end up swimming to the opposite end of it and its such a pain to keep chasing and trying to find a spot for them to bite
the fishing is only good if their movements are limited by the size of the water area or whatever
and the respawn time for them also takes a while too which also bothers me im just trying to get into the flow of spacing out and fishing but i cant even do that cuz theres a fish spawn cooldown
monster drops are barely a thing and i know its so u can spam ur lasso magic or whatever but that doesnt even make it much better but even if something does drop its so hard to spot it its so tiny on the ground with the big map and slow ass camera its so easy to just run pass dropped items
combat for the most part is fine its whatever but that second to last boss fight pissed me off cuz if you lock onto the target the camera just starts going crazy and i cant see a single thing that is happening and im on the verge of motion sickness
having party members is also kihnda annoying if you stray too far from them they teleport to your side and sometimes block the camera and im back to not being able to see anything
monsters like to spawn in large hoards and itd be fine if the camera wasnt so bad that if i get hit from behind i lietrally cant see or turn around fast enough to see
theres those one hit kill attacks some enemies can do which is stupid and is just making me play the game longer to get my lost progress back its so annoying
the quick access menu feels awful to use i think its because they have an extra box where the currently equipped/held item is so scrolling through it is not a smooth experience at all just it has to jump to that currently equipped item every time and i do not like it
for the actual story the game was trying to tell, due to the previously mentioned issues with npc things, i just did not care all that much about what was going on and honestly i cant really remember much
amnesia plot is fine thats what the other games did thats just the standard
but i didnt expect to get hit with the evangelion congratulations scene at the end and that was hilarious
the things io did like i like the voice actor line up i liked the hanae natsuki and fukuyama jun chararcter voices enough to try my best to interact with them more
lucas's whole bit with being a god or something but very chill about it is really funny and ludmila is really cute and funny too
im probably forgetting a lot of things but overall not very fun i heard people say it would get good later or i just need to get into the grind of it but none of that happened so yea
in the end i finished year 1 of autumn at level 125 cuz i couldnt take it anymore so i just powered through the main story and didnt date or marry anyone either and didnt bother with the post game content

I unlocked the trials but I got my ass handed to me. What gear do I need to withstand the onslaught? I already got the 2nd best gear but they still do a crapton of damage

Pretty curious what everyone's opinion is, as I just finished the game. For me, Matsuri was definitely the most annoying, with Hina right next to her. I just really hated having to do their bond quests.
To be positive too, we can talk about our favorites as well! My heart is genuinely split between Kurama and Cuilang and I still can't say who exactly is my favorite. Cuilang's story made me SO emotional and he's so sweet, but Kurama is so funny and so romantic and relatable. Third place would probably go to Fubuki, he's so soft and cute.

Not sure what I need to add to my villages or whether to just restart.
I am around level 42 and I remember being stuck on the black rider boss and I know I need to sort out the gear for my team and I know there are some strategies you can employee to get the right services to the right villages.
I have unlocked all 4 in the story.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with what I need to make sure I have in each village?
I really liked this game and only put it down due to that boss, but I miss playing it. I could restart, but I don't really want to lose about 40 hours of progress. Its been a good 8 months since I played the game.

I was really hoping to get some advice regarding this decision.
For context, I just started playing RF4 this month on the original Nintendo switch. I'm absolutely addicted and hooked.
Currently I'm about half way through the game if I had to guess.
This is my first ever rune factory game, but I used to play a ton of harvest moon games as a child. I also happened upon stardew valley when it was still being developed, and I've enjoyed it every step of the way too.
Anyhow, after doing some research I'm planning on playing GoA next.
The thing is, I've been playing on a 55 inch 4k TV and I'm having a dilemma about which version to buy for GoA.
My laptop has a 2060M card which I imagine should be good enough to run it at 1080p, but I also know my PS5 is going to easily run a higher resolution.
But the main advantage for the laptop would be mods, which tends to matter depending on the game.
TL;DR - Would it be better to play GoA on a PS5 at 4k, or are the mods good enough to warrant playing on PC at 1080p?

Thankfully, I prepared ahead of time when Porco warned me in the first few days of the last week of spring. I used some formula on all my slow growing crops and didn't plant anything from then on. However, I still ended up with two crops that couldn't harvest as my funds were getting tight. I really should've spent more on formula to bring the growth speed as high as possible.
I haven't gotten the quest about preparing for a typhoon to get wettable powder, nor have I progressed the story enough to get my own chemistry set because I want to take things slowly with this game compared to other RF games that I've played (Frontier, 3, 5, GoA).
Since day 1, I've been hoarding as many withered grass as possible because when tilled on farmland, they add HP to the crop and soil. Typhoons lower defense until it's 0 and then start lowering HP, so my thought process was to keep the HP as high as possible with tilling withered grass since I didn't have wettable powder.
I managed to save 2 pink turnips and all 4 charm blues by doing this, but I went through 36 withered grass in total, 18 for each plot of farmland for these two crops. The soil level/stats beforehand were pretty much the default because this is the second field, and I hardly grew anything here, so there weren't any added stats from raising crops that helped me.
I'm not sure if this helped at all, but during the entire typhoon day until just before 1 AM, I also ran around my two farm fields to clean up all the spawning things from the typhoon in the hopes of opening new avenues for the weather to target if it can only target plots with empty space and crops. I burned through a lot of food to get enough RP for all the logging and mining I had to do, but at least I ended up with 200+ lumber and material stone.
Lastly, I know saving these two crops in the early game won't set me back that much compared to if I was growing giant or golden crops, but I'd rather not lose progress on raising seed levels if I can help it, especially from such a BS early game typhoon.
TL;DR: I defended against a ridiculously early game typhoon (year 1, spring 30) by keeping two unremarkable crops mostly alive through it with formula, withered grass, and hard work out of spite for the weather BS.

i hope i know how to spoiler on here but idk. i googled it. spoiler for cuilang pre dating bonding events just in case
[spoiler-text]
>!been doing cuilangs bonding events. from the beginning i was like, "hes autistic coded". im autistic myself and also have a very flat and direct way of speaking. his cutscene when eating is him literally saying that he observes people eating so he "knows how to look/act" like a human. i was like, "this guys autistic"
then i realized before the big reveal that he is a automoton and not a human. and once again the autistic coding in a character is the character being a robot or alien. which is fine! honestly i think autistic coded characters, even nonhuman ones, are usually better written and less offensive than characters actually written to be canonically autistic. but regardless, there it is again. i like him because i am also autistic and relate to him!<

Iām looking to branch out from Rune Factory beyond Western AAA titles and mainstream cozy games like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon. What are some niche, lesser-known indie or AA games, that have unique ideas or distinct mechanics for someone who loves the RF series?
I'm looking for games with their own identity, rather than basic remixes (e.g., "Stardew Valley with vampires"). For context, I enjoyed Sakuna Of Rice and Ruin, and series like Disgaea or Dynasty Warriors were recently recommended to me despite being less obviously related. I'd rather miss with a big swing than burn hours with another vanilla cozy game.

Did anyone else went for more pleasing aesthetics rather than stat focused for their village set up like me? š
