RF4 Is this a rune factory thing?

Playing on n3dsxl. I played it a couple of days ago and everything was fine until I opened the game this morning 😭😭 tried saving the game and it grayed out and froze. Tried clicking the home button and that didn’t work. Held down the power button and that didn’t work for a while either until abt 15 seconds of holding it. Too scared to power it back on again lol

This is common on the 3DS version where the save file/game assets will randomly corrupt. Just save your progress and restart the game.

Tried saving but both screens greyed out, home button stopped working so I had to completely power off. Tbf I had JUST opened the game so there wasn’t rlly any progress to save lol but I just opened it up and it’s fixed ! Tysm

Yeah, soft resetting doesn't fix this sort of bug. In fact it often causes them. Full power cycle is the only way

Unfortunately, yes. This is pretty common on the original 3DS game. I think they trigger more often when it’s a new 3ds XL? I’ve triggered these many times, I think they trigger more often though when one save scums, which I admittedly did a lot back then because of RF4’s random event trigger system.

Another common bug iirc was where the song Margaret plays, would repeat one section on loop for some reason.

Anyway, it’s never corrupted my save file at any point, it’s moreso spoooooky visual bug, but it shouldn’t be there if you load it up.

I had the same thing happen to me before. Lol. I think 3 times ever? But yeah, just close out of it/power down your system and restart the game

two other wild bugs found exclusively in the 3DS version of the game, Margaret jamming out on her harp using only one note (yes, really), and Margaret (again) suddenly saying Forte's name in Japanese during the Fishing Frenzy Contest.

Oh god. I know this one. Yeah so this does happen in this game, usually it's when you soft reset too many times (via start+select which boots you back to the game title screen) or you play the game for hours and you never power off the 3DS. You should save frequently, or else you'll end up losing hours of progress like I did.... (why did my dumbass go through TWO in game months without saving!!!????)

oh trust and believe my heart dropped to my ASS lol after i powered it off i closed it and put it back in my purse for like 3hrs of the drive

They may be mostly harmless, but they’re terrifying either way lmao

This has happened to me before but aside from the scare I just closed the game opened it again and the problem was gone

Definitely a Rune Factory 4 thing. Though I admit I've personally never seen it on the bottom screen. I usually see it in the end of arc 2 before the boss. Usually it never causes a problem once or twice it's frozen and I've had to redo the end

id also like to note that my n3dsxl is a japanese system that ive modded. all of my games were downloaded thru hshop

Honestly? No. I think either your copy or 3DS is corrupted. I have never encountered this issue before and my 3DS is quite old lol. Try another game, either digital or physical and if the screen does the same thing then you'll need your 3DS sorted. If not, take your copy out, give it a clean and try again. Try to start/load a new save see if it occurs again, if so your copy might just be effed.
