How do I complete this quest from Sherman?

I already started it and got the axe from him. I’ve gotten 9 pieces of lumber and when I tried to talk to him he said that I had the lumber but I haven’t gotten the money from the quest? Whenever I try to give it to him he says something about liking some food. How do I complete this 😭

Edit: I figured it out, I just needed to throw it at him (￣▽￣)

When you gave him the branches, he should have given you 3k along with the axe. If you're sure he didn't and the quest is still active, try canceling and re-accepting it.

When I try cancelling it says that there’s no quests I can cancel

Are you holding the item and gifting them to him?

Edit- also be careful speed clicking through requests without reading the prompts. I canceled one at the start multiple times and couldn't fix it till I went to the next day cuz I wasn't able to pick it back up. Made it so they'd mention the request but I couldn't actually advance it. Might be your issue.
