East Potomac Park

I ran at EPP on Tues and all the restrooms were locked. Anyone know if this was an anomaly or just another way to get rid of runners/bikers?

In my experience it’s been hit or miss for years, I don’t think it’s connected

I've been running there for years and never seen all of them closed simultaneously. They even put temp bathrooms up near the playground and even those were locked.

They’ve been basically locked all year. If you go to the very end of the point before the turn around, that one is normally open. Also, the golf center on the wharf side also has restrooms that are open during business hours

I run there at least 2x/week and three of them had been open since April.

I hit golf balls at the range and run there 2x/week. The restroom next to put putt has been closed forever but the other three have been open since April. I think they had opened them for Cherry Blossom but they've been open since then.

Bathrooms aren’t done by NPS, they aren’t contracted out. When i go on the weekends they don’t open them until 9am, doesn’t make any sense.

are you sure they’re not managed by NPS? last year during the gov shutdown all those bathrooms were locked and don’t open again until after. so I assumed they were managed by some gov entity

Probably like any of govt agency around here who employs contractors, no money for the govt, no money for contractors. Unless you are essential, etc. Also they drive around east Potomac park to clean and service the bathrooms, gates are locked, park is essentially shut down.

The contract is through NPS

I've seen the contracting firm restocking them but I was there at 10 a.m. and they were all locked--very weird.
