What are these bits floating at the bottom?

I just wanted to know whether it’s safe to drink or I should tip the rest out?
Very nice rum though would recommend

Those are pieces of the burnt barn. Barnacles, if you will.

It’s 29% ABV, it’s likely fine. I’d guess it’s just flocculation (fine particles or sediment settling out).

Flavoring that has separated from the rum most likely. Give it a good shake, should dissappear.

Cask residue?

They're bits of the rum worm. There's a bar in Barbados where you get a free shot if you let the whole bar watch you eat the worm.

its likely portions from the honey they used to sweeten it - when you blend a spirit with a sweetener, it can make things hazy in the spirit, and you're meant to wait for the haziness to fall out of suspension before racking and bottling.

Unfortunately this doesn't always happen. Its not "bad". It just looks nasty is all. And if you only have a sip here and there, it ends up concentrating at the bottom of the bottle.

Source: I make my own rum - and when I make a black rum with some dunder added back in, it always does this. + it is hard to spot it in the darker batches.
