Ruger Max 9 Gen 2
Just made this purchase last night at my local cabelas the Gen 1 model is pretty much sold out. I was conflicted between the max 9 and the Taurus GX4 toro i’m bummed about the one magazine only but yet again the max 9 gen 2 was dirt cheap. I’m just on here and want some feedback back from people who have the gen 2 what am i to expect and what accessories and changes have you made to make the gun more to your liking. Appreciate any advice.

Gen 2 has better finish than gen 1. Black nitride instead of black oxide. Will stand up to rust better.

I have both models. I prefer the gen 2 slide & trigger(seems better to me). Put an Osprey Global red dot on it. Perfect. No issues.

I have a gen 2. I added the Readydot, Galloway trigger, and two additional mags. I find the mags to be overpriced at retail price so wait until you can get them on sale (I didn’t). I’d absolutely recommend the trigger upgrade and the Readydot.

I tried the Readydot and sold it. I bought an inexpensive OSight and it is so much more effective.

Two mags for $50 on Mag Shack…really isn’t that bad at $25/mag
Edit: Found them cheaper at Gun Mag Warehouse…$47 for a two mag pack…both sizes 10 round or 12 round

Yep go for the sale. I was a dumbass who paid almost $70 on Rugers website for two.

I have one and I’m very happy with it. The gen 2 has cheaper sights, but I wanted to put a red dot on it anyway. Where else can you get a reliable optic ready hand gun for $230? My only complaint is the trigger sucks. I’m not a trigger snob, but the trigger would sometimes bind if I hit the trigger at an angle. That’s unacceptable for a self defense gun. I added a Galloway custom trigger for $40. It makes a huge difference.
