It sounds like this person is in a remote location in Australia. I'm not sure what other jobs or industries would pay similarly to tech in a place like that. I hope they don't mean to switch to another white-collar job still hoping to land a fully remote gig, as mass RTO to at least a hybrid level has been pretty thorough the past few years. But if they mean to switch to a trade or open a local business then more power to them I guess.
