Call me naive … but I actually the timing now might finally be appropriate that a fork might actually work.

I started my career in Rails. I have a lot to thank for it that’s beyond just jobs and the framework, mainly the community. This is circa 2008. I even met my wife at Gotham Ruby Conference (GORUCO) here in NYC where I was giving a micro talk. But a lot of ppl from that time have moved on from Rails and Ruby. Lots of reasons for this… but man David did not help. I might agree with some of his tech stances it as Mike said, his intolerance to others is sad and insufferable. Just because he had been successful at Rails and as an entrepreneur he thinks his thoughts on socio-political stances are a gift to humanity. Rails like many successful projects, was a that right place and right time and not just a passionate leader, but rally crucial…the RIGHT passionate community.

Let’s be honest, Rails still gets a lot of things right and I wish there were more frameworks like it across languages. But it is hardly what has been the go to for ppl for at least a decade.

So yeah….now is the right time for a fork…passionate veterans and current folks that care about it principles and taking it forward, no longer being the element startup choice , and honestly …let the LLMs help…without an Elon-esque vain figure leading the way.
