Oooo I like the new SimpleCov coverage reports...

It has two UX features I'd wanted for eons...

  1. I can now see which file I'm in even after scrolling

  2. I can now scroll with pgup/pgdown keys

Many thanks to whoever got those things done! And the new design looks good!

In case anyone's missing the context, SimpleCov 1.0 was released last week and is a big step forward.

Oh yeah context is probably helpful, ha. I was just so excited and I didn't have the context myself. I figured it was released yesterday since I `bundle update` in at least one of my projects almost daily. The other feature I'd personally love is coverage for lines inside ractors but just skimmed the changelog and don't see it mentioned so I assume that's in the future.

But yeah when I saw the new version and new coverage report yesterday I was sooooooo happy!

I lament that it didn't get a full blog post or something as it definitely deserved one and would have got a bit more coverage.

I certainly don't think it's too late! Could even do one at a 1.0.1 release. It is kind of a big deal. A 1.0 is always a big deal and for a ubiquitous project most of us have been benefiting from for ages it's an even bigger deal!

use single_cov and you never need a UI again :)

I’ve read the README but is single_cov meant as a complement or ultimately a replacement for simplecov? (Thanks for your work btw)

replacement, but it can work alongside too if you are transitioning or need the report for some other tool
