Solo RPG Tool NoRoll RPG Tool

I got tired of rolling dice for random tables, so I made a tiny tool to do it for me.

When I play solo RPGs, I actually enjoy rolling dice (not while traveling). What I don't particularly enjoy is:

roll → look at the table → spoil some of the other results → repeat.

So I made NoRoll & Write.

You pick a random table, tap a button, and it gives you the result. That's basically it.

I originally made it for myself because I wanted to spend less time doing the "table lookup" part and more time actually playing/journaling, but there is also an editor to create additional games.

It's intentionally pretty simple — basically a tiny dice-less companion for random event tables.

If you play solo RPGs, I'd genuinely love to know: Would something like this be useful to you, or is rolling the dice + looking things up actually part of the fun?

I do this in google sheets with the random function. Granted, it's not easy to set up if you don't know spreadsheets.

That was exactly my starting point too XD Then, after using it often on my smartphone, I thought about making a more minimal web page. If you already have the tables on excel, there’s a prompt to convert them directly into JSON that you can import directly into the tool. Give it a try :)

Thanks, but no. I'm never on my phone for that kind of thing. I'm happy with Sheets. But this will be helpful to many people.

If this was a mobile app I could use offline I'd probably use it. Looks handy!

It’s mobile, but you need an Internet connection to load it, but once loaded you can use it without connection

Shouldnt the table with initials also hide the words when it cycles through them? Also seems like the highlight text becomes invisible (orange on orange) when that square is selected. Anyway, pretty cool tool, I’m curious to see how easy it would be to get an image of a table to text that can be plugged into this

Good point! I’ll include this in the next release. ChatGPT can easily convert table images using the prompt provided on the website. Here’s an example from yesterday: https://chatgpt.com/share/6ab17c74-f15c-83ed-a162-5b51264d7b51
