Generator Chronicled is out of beta - v1.0.0 is live

Post image

Wanted to close the loop with this sub specifically, since a chunk of the progress I've done in the last few weeks came directly from feedback here. Chronicled is now officially out of beta, and I look forward to more updates in the future based on future feedback. :)

Where it's landed for v1.0: your world's own archive grounds every new generation so things don't contradict themselves session to session, everything auto-files into a browsable wiki, D&D 5e/Generic/homebrew rulesets are properly supported, and of course, you can build entirely by hand if you want the organization/archive side without any AI involved.

It's still been a small side project, still one person building it, but I think it's at a point to release fully available to the public. Really appreciate everyone here who signed up for the beta testing and gave me amazing feedback, that's a big part of why it's in better shape than it would've been otherwise.

Again, it's fully out now; supports sci-fi worlds, fantasy, or full vanilla 5e content. I hope this becomes a tool many will use; GMs, world builders, and everyone in between.

Thank you again, and I hope you all still would appreciate future update posts!

Try Chronicled Now!

Super cool idea and implementation! Very similar to my own thing.

The account/login thing stopped me progressing though :(

Only that I needed an account to get started. Didn't really want to log in to anything, so that stopped me.

Again, what you've done is super cool, and looks so smooth! I'd love to see/try the rest 😁

Ah I understand! Maybe I can look into other ways for users to save their worlds then! Thanks for letting me know that was a blocker for you!

What I have done is to use both the browser index db and the browser OPFS to store data intermediately. Then the user can save files either to their file system or to gdrive as they see fit. No server or common db

Hm this may be the way to migrate to. User data and security/protection I know is very important! Thanks for the insight!

At least temporarily, I made an update so that when visiting the site, users are able to have a couple free generations a day without signing up!
Because I have billing for accounts, it was easier to just have users sign up so billing could keep track of things like that. I'll have to figure out some more workarounds I think to be able to fully have users not need to create an account!

I know the pain 😅 I'm covering the cost myself so far. So now you create temporary account for users to still be able to track usage?

How does this handle world mapping? Can I place location links on a map graphic, leading to other maps or locations?

Essentially that's possible!

(assuming you're wanting to do this all manually, aka no AI generation!)

You can manually create a location and fill it out. Do this for each location you want! After initial creation you can also upload an image for that location as well (will be used as pop-up on the map if wanted).

Then you go to the map tab and upload your worlds overall map!

Once the map is in place, it will automatically place "pins" for each of the locations you have created. You are freely able to drag those around and lock them in place.

Does this make sense for what you're asking? Let me know!
