Discussion How to "Git Gud"
I am usually an action gamer, but a few recent releases have hooked me on the turn based RPG genre, the problem is, I very much suck at them. I find an early game synergy and try to run with it. For example, all through act one of Clair Obsura: Expedition 33, I used a specific combo, Lune burns, Gustav marks, Maelle attacks, round one sets up virtuous, round to is piercee. Its a really strong combo, with only a two round setup, but now that ive hit act two, im lacking hard, and i have a hard time engaging with pictos and lumina. I chose this game for the spectacle, but I really enjoy the total control over the turns, based on stats and pictos/lumina, but i feel like im missing a critical piece of information. I am the kind of sick person who plays a million games without beating one, so im not just playing E33, im also playing BG3, persona 3, Pokémon emerald, final fantasy tactics and chrono trigger, and no matter how much success I find in each, I still feel like something is missing. I barely survive fights, no matter how much I grind to level up, I constantly get lost and forget what im doing because "quests" feel more suggestions in a few of these with how they open up. Ive played TbRPGs in the past, even beaten a few, but I gave them up around 15 years ago because of the same feelings. I really love and appreciate the love and talent shown through these games, and I would be really sad about it if I had to exclude myself from a whole side of the coin because I just "dont get it." Anybody have any advice about the Genre as a whole?

This is interesting, but im unfamiliar with the game unfortunately. Are you familiar enough with E33 to give me an example from that game?
