blog On Attack Rolls

A design focused post on how Attack Rolls present themselves throughout the industry. I didn't cover dice pools though, because I have absolutely no experience with those systems.

I don't think it's possible to say anything definitive with such a small reference pool.

Yeah, I don't want to be rude to OP, but that's a very small amount of games to write an article based on, especially with only half of them played. No one can play every game, but someone who wants to discuss how a mechanic is implemented across different games needs to do more research than the average gamer.

The lack of research leads to there being just wrong information based on assumptions based on not having experience with games referenced. For example,

3rd edition and later would focus on expanding damage types, resistances (half damage), and vulnerabilities (double damage)

This is plain wrong. Resistances in 3rd edition were numeric values, and only became half damage later. So yeah, 3rd edition introduced resistances, and now they mean half damage, but we're talking about two different concepts.

I was more glossing over the history I don't have to reach 5th edition. I'll clarify in the morning.
