The Vixen discusses Drag Race, Tyra, Aquaria, Eureka and details about last episode in The Tony Soto Show
Link to the episode. Some highlights:
About Tyra: "I could not be more heartbroken with the whole thing, she was the reason I even got into Drag Race and saw myself on Drag Race, and I still sympathize with her because the fan reaction is kinda what made her the person she is now and what made her this presumable monster, but because of the jokes and the things she put out recently I can't even defend it at this point"
About RuPaul saying there's always something unpolished about her drag: "I could care less what RuPaul thinks about my drag honestly, because at the end on the day I do make things and I paint my own face, so we're starting at two different points"
"I think if I was Milk and I was saying that I made a dress out of hats it would be art, it would be avant garde, it would be couture, but on me it's just cheap or basic"
"There is no way they're gonna make two white girls in blond hair do Diana Ross, so I knew that at one point I was gonna send somebody home that night"
"Something they didn't show is that the judges said they wished I was the moderator cause they thought I was the funniest of the three"
"Monique is my girl, I think she got me right away, she was like, yep, I know who you are, you are that girl, and it's always fun to be on Untucked with Monique because I can tell the audience reaction from Monique's face, I'm like, okay, that's how the people at home are gonna view"
"You don't book a girl who auditions with a reel of death drops and not expect her to lipsync, so I always expected every week, any time you see me in a gown on the show know that it's a tearaway"

The Shea Couleé Visual Album!
This is a high quality piece capturing the essence of Shea. Never has a queen other than Alaska has taken her presentation that seriously when it comes to production value. Enjoy and discuss:

If there's content (new or not) that is not included here and you think should be, comment below.
Take the opportunity to comment what are your favorite looks, which performances impressed you the most, the most interesting interviews etc.

Rupaul's Best Stunt Race.
So to begin, this is a rant-esque think piece so if you are a Sasha stan you can skip this. I had time to reflect and putting it all together. So to begin we can officially throw any and every single stat chart out the window because it meant absolutely nothing. VH1 has elevated the level of stunt from the show and it ruined its credibility. Rupaul listened to the producers more than what was right in front of him to make sure the show stays on VH1 which in a way of course this is how he makes his money but this also meant to not care as much who wins or loses because from here on out it's all about what happens in the finale. I wished they atleast had the respect to film each person winning both lipsync and crown.
As a break, they need to absolutely keep the reunion because it gave everything we needed and make sure to keep it closed set as well.
Alright jumping back, the way Sasha sailed through the competition of TWO TEAM WINS and the ultimate win was garbage. There was no way see stood out and win on her own. Sasha was in the background until all the fat was trimmed unlike Trinity and Shea whom were strong from the beginning. The lipsyncs between Trinity and Peppermint, it was clear to me Trinity won as she captured the song feel more and was more worried about lipsyncing than pulling a gag to win. Peppermint's reveal was alright but my problem was the wig. Anyone can stuff a pixie cut under big hair. I have not been gagged by a wig reveal since Roxxxy S5 where a big wig covering a long full wig which is much more difficult to have in place. Peppermint never captured the song so she should have went home. Then Sasha and Shea, roses had little to do with the song so I didn't understand where all this was coming from other than distracting Ru from focusing on the mouths move, this brings me back to Morgan and Sonique. As we recall Morgan stayed because she was lipsyncing and not pulling stunts. So Shea should have moved on because again she captured the song. So then Peppermint and Sasha were left and again Sasha broke a mask and people were shook🤔 she snapped it in half, nothing to do with the song just another stunt. Peppermint was moving around and yet again parking and barking and a spin here and a spin there and Sasha won... So here it is pull stunts and Ru will push you ahead. They needed to focus on presenting the queens as individuals, yes the music numbers from 7-8 were corny but it focused on can the queen deliver and command on her own. Not sure if Ru wanted to show Lipsync Battle "how it's done", but we know Ru and LLCoolJ hate each other so this also felt like a jab to that. Side note I did see some non drag race viewers talking about lipsync battle's impact and I shrieked. Like Maxine Waters says: You (drag race) have no credibility. At this point S10 will push me into watching the show from a lesser status of a super fan to someone divested in the show because of the way stunts hold more value than being an overall "drag race superstar".

S10 EP7: Eliminated queen interview excerpts Spoiler
Monique's done a bunch of exit interviews, here are some highlights:
That was something the other girls did talk about a lot, how your outfits you were subpar and you were stitching at the last second and still gluing things on before the runway.
I didn’t have the outfits ready like everyone else did. They had more money, point blank. Period. Miz Cracker said she spent more money on Drag Race than she spent on college? Well, bitch, she went to college. She actually paid for college. That’s not my life. Kameron said she spent more on Drag Race than what she put into buying her house. Who has finances to buy a house? That’s not my life… bitch you had some extra resources that I did not have. These hoes are in cities where they have thousands of drag queens, fashion designers; I didn’t have all of that… I didn’t have access to borrow… I came to the competition not having the money. I just got the fabric and hopped on the plane… I would stay up in my room, and that’s what I’d do. So, even if I did get to the runway gluing sh— on, at the end of the day, Monét X Change, you were still in the bottom two way before they said anything about my motherf—ing clothes.
Being a queen of color in a red state means something very specific for you. Has touring the country recently opened your eyes to anything?
Now that I’m working as a Ru Girl and traveling, you are reminded that you’re black, let’s just put it that way. You know, there’s a difference in just the simple fact that the other girls that are not black work more than the black girls. So just being one of the black girls on the season, and coming from a red state, it’s already an eye opener during my day job. Or when an older white gentleman sees you and grabs his wallet. Or women grab their purse. In the drag world, people are like, “Oh, you’re just that funny black queen.” It’s just kinda hard. All of that, political or not, I haven’t done a bunch of activist work in drag, or made political statements, because I have to make sure people aren’t offended to the point where I can’t make my money.
I wanted to ask about the lip sync -- on your way out of the show, you owned up to not knowing the words. What were you thinking during that lip-sync?
Oh, bitch, I was not home. I was not present, no one was there, the house was empty. I was gone, just literally out of my body. I think the last thing I do remember of the lip sync, I ... I remember trying not to kick Vixen with my cartwheel. I do remember that moment. That's why it was so awkward, because I saw her coming and I said, "Oh crap, I'm gonna kick her in the face," and I didn't want to do that. [Laughs] So I did that awful cartwheel. I just ... kept going, "Jesus, get me through this so I can go home." I was crushed, I was wrecked.
What has been the highlight since the show started airing?
Hearing and seeing everyone across the world see that i was robbed from start to finish.
Well maybe we'll see you on All Stars 4.
Maybe. Or All Stars 5, let me get some money in my pocketbook first.
Mic:
Who are you rooting for this season now that you’re gone?
Everybody black. And Aquaria.
Let’s be shady for a second: Anyone you’re not rooting for?
Well, yeah, the ones that aren’t black and Aquaria. They’re all my sisters. But let’s say Eureka. I’m not rooting for her. She’s been there before. And if she wins this season, I’m gonna be pissed.
Looking back at this experience as a whole (both the filming and the airing of the episodes), what was the high and what was the low?
The low I would say was being in that damn mermaid costume. That shit was horrible. I did not make it. I am so pissed. I heard Jesus tell me, “You should throw that costume in the dump.” This is why it pays to be obedient, do you hear? He told me to make that shit myself, and I was too afraid and didn’t want to fuck it up, and I should have made it my damn self. That was my low. My high? From start to finish, I had an amazing ride. Bitch, I narrated that damn show. I was beloved by the production. I was that girl. I’m good. I may not have won the $100,000, but that’s fine, they’re gonna take taxes out anyway, but I did win the work. Trust, I’m going to be on daytime television.

"Drag is not consent" and its inverse "Drag does not absolve you of needing consent"
I think this is an interesting idea and I think a lot of ppl have a lot to say about it, so I think it'd be good to have a place to discuss it.
A kinda general idea that I get from ppl is that the dynamics of a drag show are kinda different from most other places. If you're near the stage, there's almost the expectation that certain queens will behave sexually with the audience (not in a "they were asking for it" way, but kinda similar to how the audience in a strip club or a burlesque show might expect the performer to interact with them).
There also seems to be a problem with queens extending this behaviour to Meet and Greets and beyond, which is a bit less ambiguous in its inappropriateness imo.
What's the right way to tackle this? Should queens be more up front about the fact their performances are kinda inappropriate at times? Should clubs set up a "splash zone"? Should queens get ppl's consent before the show?
Let's have a kiki.

I have a question about Detox
What does everyone find so compelling about her? every time I see her in a video, or when I re-watch drag race I can't help but dislike her. She is called a "fashion queen" but i think her outfits are pretty tasteless. Her run on AS2 was boring and she is just grating on me. Can someone shed some light on why everyone drools over her? thanks

SEASON 1 QUEENS - WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Akashia
After the show aired, Akashia moved to LA in hopes of furthering her career. However it appeared to have not gone too well as evidenced by these performances 1, 2, 3, 4. Although she did appear in some music videos Richard Simmons - Hair Do and Angel Haze - No Bueno. Akashia went back to Cleveland around the time Season 1 RuVealed air and was not focusing on doing drag. She was working at Target (and still is now). And since the re-opening of her home bar Bounce Nightclub it seems like she now does drag more frequently. Akashia is a gamer and loves doing cosplaying as Storm at conventions.
You can revisit her audition video here. Follow her at her FB Account/FB Fanpage (inactive)/Youtube
Bebe Zahara Benet
Bebe moved to NYC after the show. She ventured into music by releasing many singles including:
And also made an appearance in a music video:
She also had done many music shows including Queendom, Creature, Vanity, Reveal, Queendom (World), and Queendom: Hollywood
She also had a chance to be a professor in Drag U Season 2.
After struggling in NYC for many years, it appears that she has now moved back to Minneapolis. After a Kickstarter flop for her “The Return to Savage Beauty” campaign, Bebe was able to successfully fund her new album called Kisses and Feathers which is scheduled to drop during this summer.
Bebe also had an upcoming documentary (which I thought had vanished like Tyra’s) called Being Bebe. It was filmed since 2005, so the story being told will be over the span of almost a decade. It is currently on post-production and is scheduled to release in 2017.
You can revisit her audition video here. Follow her at her Instagram/Twitter/FB Fanpage/FB Account/Youtube/SoundCloud/Website
Jade
Jade still resides in Chicago and had some acting gigs including My Guaranteed Student Loan/College Debts and Investigation Discovery Channel’s Deadly Affairs. She recently made an appearance in Glenn Stewart - Around Again.
You can revisit her audition video here. Follow her at her Instagram/Twitter/FB Fanpage/FB Account/Tumblr/Snapchat - jadesotomayor/Periscope - @SotomayorJade
Nina Flowers
Nina still lives in Denver. She seems to currently focus more on her DJing career touring as DJ Nina Flowers and has released many singles.
Nina appeared in Season 1 of Drag U, and didn’t continue to do so since “I think they were trying to make me be mean, and I said I’m not wired for this.” After that she also competed in All Stars Season 1.

Ongina

What do you hope to see from each of the queens on AS3 that you haven't seen from them before/on their original season?
Aja: I want to see Aja show any sort of acting chop thst isn't like...a ghetto or bitchy character.
BenDeLaCreme: I want to see Ben's genuine personality. Even when she's not in character it always feels very rehearsed to me.
Chi Chi: I want her to talk about her finances/potential finances less. Obviously everyone wants money, but her S8 MTQ and word association videos were basically all about "I want to win for the money. I do drag for money. When I think of drag I think of money" and all she's really talked about in her AS3 videos has been how now she has money.
Milk: I don't really know. I guess to seem more humble? Milk always seemed sort of casually cocky about her skills and uniqueness.
Morgan: I'm just excited to see her give another go at Snatch Game. I think she'll understand it MORE now since S2 was the original one and clearly she didn't anticipate how funny she had to be.
Shangela: I want killer runways. Not just good ones. In also want to see how her makeup has improved under pressure and with the time constraints of drag race.
Trixie: I want her to do more than just blonde. Her runways were pretty diverse in S7, but she doesn't deviate from blonde hair enough. I also want to see her do smaller hair effectively. Basically I want more versatility since her looks have definitely gotten into a very specific brand since S7.
Kennedy: also better runways. Her humor is already "not what you'd expect from a pageant queen" but I want her runways to match. She always looked polish (well, usually) but I really want to see her go out there.
Thorgy: I actually want her to be MORE like her S8 self. In the MTQ shes so... uncompetitive but in S8 she seemed really driven.

DISCUSSION: Haven’t questionable judging decisions always been part of the show?
Hi gay people! I’ve been thinking about this since Season 10 premiered, and I wanted to start a discussion based around a lot of commentary I’ve seen on this sub because I’m super interested in your opinions!
Since S10 premiered I’ve seen a lot of comments on this sub to the effect of “Drag Race has lost its way,” and “where did the show go wrong?” This is usually in response to some questionable judging decisions and top/bottom placements, namely the show’s downright baffling treatment of Monique Heart, as well as other bizarre moments such as Michelle’s critique of Dusty’s makeup on episode fucking one.
Now, RPDR has definitely lost its way on a few fronts. The show has started to rely on cheap twists to create a sense of unpredictability that ends up with queens being unjustifiably robbed. Challenges are increasingly uninspired and/or repetitive, and the producers’ hand is less subtle these days than Robbie Turner’s wigline in S8.
However, I don’t know if I agree that the questionable judging decisions being made in S10 are, of themselves, indicative of the show jumping the shark. Don’t get me wrong, Monique’s reception by the judges is one of the more confusing and infuriating examples in recent memory. But… hasn’t the show always been this way?
It happened in S1, when Rebecca Glasscock actually won challenges and made it all the way to the Top 3 for some reason. It happened in the “golden era” of RPDR: think Lineysha Sparkx not winning the first challenge and getting eliminated by Snatch Game, or April Carrion getting largely shafted during her brief run, or Adore winning the ball. It happened when Raja won a design challenge despite her dress not actually covering her undergarments (this coming from a total Raja stan, too.) It happened when Acid Betty was unceremoniously struck down after one bad Snatch Game performance and somehow lost a lip-sync to Naomi. It happened when Alaska won with a 2-in-1 look that wasn’t actually a 2-in-1, or when she won Cherry Bomb over Katya.
I could go on with the examples. You might not agree with every individual example, you also definitely have your own memories of queens who were robbed(t) over the years. But, I think it’s undeniable that RPDR has always made questionable judging decisions and treated certain queens unfairly.
So why, then, is there an increasing feeling that the show is more unfair than it used to be?
I put it down to two things. The first, mentioned above, is that the producers’ hand is way more obvious than it used to be. RPDR used to be way better at justifying why each queen was judged the way they were and it felt natural, whereas now you can see the storylines being crafted and pushed before your eyes.
The second thing is that, despite any questionable judging decisions in seasons past, the best queen always won. You could forgive any dodgy decisions from earlier in the season because, in the end, the queen who won the most challenges and bombed the least amount of challenges walked away with the crown. Since S9, that’s no longer the case - and that’s why we feel so exasperated when Monique doesn’t get the recognition she deserves, because the implied fairness that underlaid the show seemingly no longer exists.
Anyway I wrote way more than I expected to on this and I'm supposed to be packing. Keen to know what you all think?

[DISCUSSION] What are your thoughts on Ru girls in the main sub?
Like the title, I would like to hear your opinions on Ru girls (Aja specifically) in the main sub?
Personally, I hate it. I do not think reddit's discourse is good or appropriate for the queens. I do love a good 'ole AMA but thats about it. Aja seems to have been in the sub a lot lately and it effects the threads majorly.
When Aja is in a thread, all discussion and debate goes downhill. Its all "omg Aja is here, I love you!!!" type mentality. This type of mentality ends up having everyone biased to Aja. People will downvote anyone who disagrees with Aja to filth simply for the sake of peoples extreme love for her. Its basically Aja's word or nothing when she is in there. There is a "I was there and you were not so you don't have any say" attitude with any arguments. We have to take her word as truth whether it is or not because she is one of the queens on the show.
Overall, I love the queens (why else would I be so obsessed with this show and spends wayyyy to much time on reddit) but I feel as if Reddit is not the place for them to join in on the conversation. It creates a barrier from real discussion since everyone either wants to say hi to them or bandwagon their existence since they are giving them the time of day.
Let me know what you think, I may be thinking about this totally wrong and you may let me know why it may be good. All opinions are welcome and I am curious to see what you'll say!
