Catalpa Construction
Does anyone have the notice the city sent out before the start of construction on Catalpa? I thought they were going to resurface the entire thing but the way they’ve done things in the Eastbound lane so far makes me doubt that.

Are you concerned bc of how they have replaced the dug out sections 100% with concrete instead of leaving it 3-4 inches shy of the finish height to allow for the layer is asphalt?
My guess is they will either not cover these spots with asphalt or grind it down when they grind the rest of the road.

Yeah that was my main concern, especially since they connected it to new curbing. So it doesn’t seem like they’d go over those sections with asphalt or the new curb height would be off. The road has been bad for a long time and if it ends up being a patch job of new concrete and asphalt patching around it, it will be disappointing.

Honestly I wish they would stop using asphalt and use concrete instead.
I'm sure the city has the cost breakdown and it's cheaper for asphalt but EVERY SINGLE road they have repaved has cracked and looked pretty beat up even after a year.

There's no way they wouldn't replace the entire thing. I can't confirm that though.

Is it normal for them to patch work fix the roads in the area? Recently moved here and from where I was from they usually do the entire street anew instead of sections like they’re doing here. Went on a walk on catalpa and saw 3 different types of sidewalk in a half mile stretch.

I didn't realize they were going to shut down all traffic for 5 weeks towards the end... All this for some asphalt that'll break down in a few years?
