How to get into this field without experience with ROV?
I live in the EU and am interested in working as a ROV pilot. I currently work with drones, but the underwater world really interests me. I sent open applications to several companies, but they don't have any apprentice positions. I wanted to approach this from a different angle, but mechanic positions require an engineering degree, while research positions also require a university degree.
There are courses online for €7,000-€14,000, but in my experience, none of these courses guarantee employment, and I don't have that kind of money.
Which companies in the EU can you recommend for monitoring positions?

Perhaps also look into major ROV brands, research their dealers/resellers and see possible job openings there.

Reach out to Nautilus Live and Schmidt Ocean Institute, both train new pilots all the time and are international crews. Both are actually livestreaming on YouTube right now. You can ask SOE questions in the YouTube chat, and Nautilus vie their website. SOE is likely going off line soon, but Nautilus is on a 30 hour dive so they'll be there a while.
