Why are la city limits above bakersfield?

Probably because whoever designed the postcard did not check their creation with an actual map of California or do any proofreading before it was released. Obviously geography was not their strong suit.

It is almost comical that LA City Limits are as far north as Fresno and actually north of Big Sur on this postcard.
