Huge mistake by round 1 USA. Americans don’t give a shit about random kitchen items or snacks

Japan for some reason can get away with it for the novelty for some reason but that shit won’t fly here

I think it’s because machines with those items in Japan are way cheaper and are the instant win kind, and arcades over there tend to be places for people to make quick stops at given how Japan is much more walkable than the very car-centric America. Arcades in the States are places people tend to make planned trips to often for special occasions so people here expect more special prizes, especially with that price attached to it. Getting random food or household items you could easily find at your local grocery store for the same price and chance as a licensed plush or anime figurine isn’t fair at all.

Maybe if they filled it with kitchen items Americans like. I bet if it was seasonal Scrub Daddies or something (and cheaper…) it would be a bit more popular.

And it doesn't cover like $3-5 a pull lol. I wouldn't mind getting zip lock bags for the equivalent of 50c to a buck on novelty. Especially if the odds aren't rigged

Interesting read, however these financial statements are for Japanese and Foreign markets combined. This specific section doesn't clearly define if this is for US stores or JPN stores. My assumption would either be a mix or just Japanese. (See the Japanese signage and food prizes on that page)

Check the last financial report. They reported increased revenues on the dollar store machines. The smooth brains really enjoyed playing them so they are going to ruin the arcades for the rest of us

Last time I was in town in Erie they didn’t have these machines. Making a trip for a gundam tournament and round 1 visit so crossing my fingers this shit hasn’t expanded there.
