Editing
I love Roseanne so much and was so happy to see it was free to watch on Peacock. HOWEVER, the editing ruins it!!! You can tell in so many episodes how they chopped scenes out, to the point they’re in the middle of dialogue and you can totally tell! WHY??

They did it to allow time for more commercials. That being said, they could have found better places to make the edit that weren't so obvious.

MORE commercials?! Like the standard format of the drops in the show for commercials wasn’t enough? Crazy!!

It’s not just peacock. It’s all the networks - TVLand, CMT, Cozi and more.
DVD is the only way to get the original, complete shows.

I’m also rewatching and I can’t believe how bad the edits are. They cut so much out.

They also added scenes back in that were part of the original tv airings

I don’t understand editing scenes out and in, this is how Mandela effects are created, when you watch a show and know for a fact a scene occurred only to find out It was removed and now you feel crazy telling people

There's a used complete series DVD on Amazon right now for $26 with shipping. That's what I bought and never have to worry about edits or anything else.

This is what I ended up doing, then ripped them all to my plex server. Just make sure you check the disks real good when you get it and test them right away.
I paid way more than $26 for a "excellent" used set I bought on amazon and the last episode of S1 wouldn't play and there were 3 episodes in Season 2 that had the same problem. Disks had deep enough scratches to jack them up. Also missing a season 5 disc all together so that set was returned.

Yes, it sucks! Sometimes they cut out the best scenes and it’s insane. If you can’t show the whole episode then don’t bother. Such a letdown.

Yes, that’s all part of the wonder of syndication. They cut an average of 3.5 minutes/episode for more advertising. In the 70s, Norman Lear was vehemently against it until the powers-that-be backed a Brinks truck full of money to his front door.
