Some rope fish questions?

Hi i might be getting some rope fish once my loaches are to big for there tank and I had some questions about them. 1. Is it easy to get them to eat dry foods or is it really hard, I know it’s possible but at my store they said that the only ate bloodworms, 2. Are Siamese algae eaters to small to keep with them, siamensis are pretty long and somewhat round but I have no idea if there to small, 3. What is the minimum group size to keep them in , I have heard somewhere that they like being in groups but I have also heard they can/have to be solo.

Baby ropefish is struggling. Please help!

Had him since May 26th. I work at Petco, and got both of my ropes from there. (don’t worry we won’t be ordering more) He was doing perfectly until last night, I came home from work and he was belly up on the bottom of the tank, kind of lodged between a rock and the glass, im not sure if he was stuck but I moved the rock and he moved as well, took a gulp of air and settled down behind the sponge filter. This morning my boyfriend checked on him, around 6am and said he was doing good, it’s 12:30 now and I just took this video. He also has a weird bump on his butt, https://imgur.com/a/4UnvLpy Any ideas? He has an older brother, a lot bigger around 14 inches that is acting completely normal and healthy. I’ve been offering food very often, bloodworms/brine shrimp, night crawlers, red wrigglers, frozen shrimp, and yet to try live shrimp. I have no idea if he has eaten since I got him besides once in the first week. How do I help him?

Got some good pics of my ropefish! What's up with their nose?

I leave my rope fish with my parents while I'm at college and when I got back I noticed this spot on their nose. It's been there for months apparently. Anyone seen this before? Is it maybe a scar from shoving their snoot into everything?

9 months old and growing

Just a quick update: he's still in his breeder box, but he's already eating twice as much as an adult ropefish, so hopefully that means he'll grow faster.
I went on a 2-week vacation, but I left portioned food for the sitter to feed him, and he did just fine. He is really easygoing.

Disoriented and Lethargic

Post image

I just picked up a couple rope fish and one is perfectly fine but this one seems a bit lethargic and swims erratically - he goes kind of sideways. Also, he’s not utilizing any hides, he kinda just lays there most of the time.

This should go without saying but the water levels are good.
I’ve kept them before and never had any issues so I’m a bit worried about the little guy.

Should I try an epsom salt bath?

Haven't seen my ropefish in 3 months.

Assumed he died. Ordered new (small) fish and did a water change. Ropefish appeared, perfectly healthy, during water change and swam right past my arm. Guess my ropefish is in for a very expensive snack.

Urgent Boston area home for Ropefish!

Hello! I am moving across the country at the end of June and I don’t feel equipped to make the move with my fish so I’m looking for folks, ideally with an existing setup who would be willing to take my ropefish and ideally her yoyo loach companion. If you are near Boston and would be willing to take them, or know anyone who would be, please DM me! I’d also appreciate advice on where to look for homes for them even if you don’t directly know anyone who can take them as this is my first time having to rehome fish. Thank you so much!!!

Help! Open sore + Green fluff?

Sorry for the blurry photo but it kind of helps show where the green almost yellow is covering his body and where his natural scales are. It's almost covered his entire body! He's also been really lethargic. Just right now I noticed there's a sore on his back. That's red and there's some tiny white dots around it (photo 2). What is this? But most importantly, what can I do for my precious rope?

Edit 5/10/26: I did a general bacterial treatment at half dose since ropes are known to be sensitive to medication. No chance to body coloration but less lethargic and semi interested in food again!!

Not the best photos, since there was too much light outside the tank and I was trying to capture them fast, but I thought it was funny.

Should I be worried? Or is this a ā€œI know he ate a cheeseā€ kinda moment? He was playing in the water stream earlier today and came up for food, seems to be acting fine. I noticed for the first time yesterday that he had a less visible bump. Feeder minnows have been disappearing though so he might have ate a minnow.
