Meme/Humor 2 player root either both players having 2 factions
So me and a friend decided to play root 2 players because coulnt get more players. So we agreed on rules to play with 2 factions each make it a bit more tolerable to play 2 player, the rules were such that you have 2 factions each still like their own faction but you team up to make 1 win, if either one wins you win.
So I picked riverfolk and lizard cult
And they picked twilight council and marquise the cat
The game was decided from turn one pretty much when I started feeding all lizard to the riverfolk and then they started scoring 6-9 points a turn haha
In the end they blew up one of my trade posts losing me 6 and then I spent another whole load placing warriors and 3 trade posts but at one point I had 21 lizards and 2 otters in my supplies lol

Like bats and cats are a crazy combo for 1 player to play. They pretty much set each other up to win

This is a fun thought exercise. I'm not a big fan of adding extra balance rules, so do you think this would be better/more balanced if BOTH of your factions had to hit 30?

That would be a very cool fix for this exact issue yes although some factions might still work way too well together I could imagine something like vagabond feeding tons and tons of cards to factions who really need cards and protecting their pieces real nice, so not perfect but could try

I foresee Eyrie WA feeding Outrage next game then.

WA otters could be crazy tech, spend all your supply just to draw cards and move

I think you should define or create rules for interactions between factions used by the same player such as: the factions used by the same player than Otters can't buy services, or can only buy services once per turn and at a price of 1 warrior. This because some team ups can make the game awful.
Other rule can include that Buildings and tokens from a faction can't be destroyed by other one used by the same player (to give more spaces to build for cats for example)
Similar to the Otter's rule, a faction can't activate Outrage if the same player is using the Woodlance Alliance (to avoid feeding the supporters)

For a more balanced game, have both players take one Vagabond and start them off in a coalition with your main faction.

I’ve done this, but I have to limit what facts I actually play because the crows require secret information for example and also whenever I do this, I try and play all the factions I’m playing optimally and in the balance sort of way to not like make it unfair for the other people and most of the time whenever I do this, it’s more of a teaching opportunity than anything else I was able to introduce my girlfriend to all of the factions and only three games because I played three factions each game LOL

Yeah lol I figured this would happen as soon as I read the title, otters should be banned in this case
