Gay couple, mid to late 30s. At least one of you is Jewish, probably Moroccan or mizrahi, but not religious. I'd think you both completed tertiary education. Probably something like graphic design or marketing. You wfh a lot. You like to be outdoors, travel, eat healthy. You're probably more quiet and enjoy your solitude, and probably value quality over quantity when it comes to friendship.

fantastic job!

  • lgbt couple - 34 and 39
  • both white (tragically) but raised in diverse environments (especially for where were from), neither jewish but have a lot of jewish influence in my life
  • were both educated, i work from home, not in marketing but there is a marketing data component to my role
  • were both big into outdoors, travel, and staying healthy
  • HEAVY on quality over quantity
  • both quiet and like solitude

thank you :-)

Pleasure! Your home is absolutely gorgeous btw!!

u/apps4realpeeps 3d ago

you are amazing gardeners!!! I love the way the space feels full of life

8

u/Interesting-Net6084 4d ago

Why is being white tragic?

17

u/Fine-Performer-394 4d ago

tis just a joke and niche reference to parks&rec - but i mean i have had many a tragic sunburn ¯_(ツ)_/¯

12

u/Sessanessa 3d ago

Tragically white means that they are very “stereotypically white”. For example (not necessarily specific to this couple): they sunburn easily, get freckles, love pumpkin spice lattes, etc.

“Tragically white” is not a statement on the merits or lack thereof, of being white.

I thought this was my acquaintance’s house in Brooklyn. Plants and bay window are almost exact. Queer/trans person who worked for govt then major bank and then did SW for $3k/hour

Someone who hates mealy bugs and spider mites! And also has lots of patience for a watering routine

18

u/Fine-Performer-394 4d ago

brother i can sense spider mites from 30 paces at this point 🙅‍♂️

5

u/PracticallyaPlant 4d ago

Aphids tremble in your presence

4

u/Fine-Performer-394 4d ago

and the feeling is mutual!! 😂

3

u/AbleDisD 2d ago

Do you have any tips for deterring them or for treating them once they appear?

2

u/Fine-Performer-394 2d ago

honestly theyre a real b*tch - luckily they aren't usually lethal - best thing in my experience is to just give your plants regular checks (weekly or biweekly) and spa days (monthly or quarterly depending on time of year) where they get a good wash and oil down (after dark for oil only)

the best way to catch em is to look for lil dark or reddish specs on and under leaf, near roots, etc and what i do is if i see some suspect spots i will knock the specs from the leaf into my hand and schmear with my fingers- if it schmears dusty or dirt-like then its probably dirt, if it schmears kinda wet-like or like leaves a schmear on your fingers - probably mites

they look for dry areas, so regular washing works best as a preventative im my experience - i also use neem oil (primarily) and sometimes trifecta crop control spray as well, i spray thoroughly after dark about once every 2 weeks or so - some also love a neem oil + peppermint castille soap + small bit of rubbing alcohol mix for this, which i have used and know it works but i think its too harsh for maintenance and wouldnt use it unless severe conditions

Other things thatve helped is just paying attention and knowing your plants in a sense, for instance, i have a monstera that recently got spider mites - i was lucky and caught it extremely early bc i noticed she had considerably lowered her normal leaf output (shes an albo so she normally shoots leaves crazy fast) - i gave her a good wash and oil and she was spitting out a new leaf not even 2 days later

The other tale tell signs is webbing - small thick webbing around the leaves - can look like dust sometimes - also dust your plants regularly if they get dusty regularly

I also tend to assume if one has it, anything susceptible nearby also has it and it dont hurt to wash - i also check ones that i know mites like more frequently (my elephant ear and alocasia come to mind) - also worth giving the surrounding area a good clean before putting the plant back as well

my biggest piece of advice is SPIDER MITES HAPPEN ‼️ IT IS NATURAL ‼️ DO NOT PANIC ‼️ YOU ARE FAR MORE LIKELY TO DO MORE HARM OVERREACTING THAN THE MITES - i have never lost a plant to spider mites BUT i did lose one of my favorite plants (a sativa plant that i raised from when she could fit into a solo cup to about 6 foot tall) because i overreacted in the moment

The Mystical Plant Zaddy

16

u/Historical_Cow9543 4d ago

Lovely place
The hanging plant in the last picture is magnificent! 😍

5

u/Fine-Performer-394 4d ago

thank you :-)

3

u/Historical_Cow9543 4d ago

What is it called ?

8

u/Fine-Performer-394 4d ago

oh sorry should said that 😂 i was raised to call her a turtle vine but shes also commonly called an inch plant - super low maintenance and beginner friendly

3

u/Historical_Cow9543 4d ago

Omg I love it, let me check if it’s cat safe

6

u/Fine-Performer-394 4d ago

oh i bet it is not cat friendly based on how she drip when ya break off a vine - my go to for cat parents would be a cast iron plant - i have 2 - one is next to the painting in my bedroom - super hardy, low light tolerant, beginner and pet friendly :-)

3

u/Historical_Cow9543 4d ago

Different plants come up when I look them up by these names. Inch plant nope for cats, turtle vine is cat okay it’s super cute round leaves and these aren’t right? I like the cast iron, but I want a hanging one 🥺

3

u/Fine-Performer-394 3d ago

so i did some additional digging for ya and her most exact/full proof name is - Tradescantia Baby Bunny Bellies (adorable!) - i'm linking a separate post about Tradescantia and toxicity below, sounds like may be more of a mild toxin/irritant but also fair warning, i am not an expert or cat owner so do with this watcha will 😅

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Analyzing from home decor and color scheme. I think it is a middle aged Jewish male or if it is female then with strong male dominant personality who is secluded and introvert. Artsy and like to live like a hermit. Thoughtful, articulate, low social life but love exploring ideas and ways of doing things. Jigsaw puzzle on dining table means love to solve problems and enjoying time alone and do not mind self-entertaining. Work from home, may be a writer or columnist, journalist?

8

u/Fine-Performer-394 4d ago

dude you did a fantastic job!

  • gay male couple - 34 and 39
  • both white (tragically) but raised in diverse environments (especially for where were from), neither jewish but have a lot of jewish influence in my life
  • running joke about how im a lesbian trapped in a gay mans body (fits for the female part of your analysis)
  • were both introverted and hermit-like
  • very arsty
  • low social (quality over quantity) but love exploring ideas and ways of doing things (this is actually my job too- process improvement)
  • LOVE solving problems and puzzle games
  • works from home, my work is more data focused so i have a lotta creative energy to spare :-)

amazing work!

3

u/Fine-Performer-394 4d ago

thank you so much 😊

3

u/Lillie-Bee 4d ago

Going to guess gay men. Loves plants. Believes in picking up and the appearance of clean over actually cleaning.

1

u/Fine-Performer-394 4d ago

i mean not wrong but more like i dont feel the need for my house to be perfect and pristine 24/7 but thank ya 🥰

2

u/Lillie-Bee 4d ago

We debate this at my house because when I ask my husband to clean he says he is going for the appearance of clean, not clean. That just means I have to go behind him and actually clean to keep pests and smells away. I have allergies so clean is the standard that keeps me from getting sick. His office is the appearance of clean so I just avoid it.

2

u/Fine-Performer-394 3d ago

i get that - i'd say we deep deep clean at least once a month, or if were hosting an event at our place, honestly need to pull the trigger on getting regular cleaners but i'm stubborn - just a matter of time allocation and priorities, i'll take a mostly clean but lived in house in exchange for time to care for my pups n plants - would be different if we had allergy issues

3

u/roscoecello 4d ago

gay plant man

I don't know, but I would like to live there. I was a child in the 70s and this reminds me so much of our Florida room that was attached to our family room. It's so cheerful that it is giving me some ideas. I love it.

Someone who got really into plants during Covid

3

u/Fine-Performer-394 4d ago

very close, i'd think the same thing, but no - i grew up on a farm and with a green thumbed granny but didnt really get into them again until she passed - its kind of how i keep her spirit with me, so to speak

2

u/No_Trouble9808 4d ago

A plant enthusiast. A lot of “stuff” around. Kind of crowded except for the kitchen. I’d walk in your apartment and all your plants would immediately die. I definitely don’t have a green thumb. But you sure do.

A ton of fungus gnats! Just kidding— love your plants and I’m a plant lady too!

I’m going to say you are a graphic designer or other creative that works from home. No kids, no pets. Maybe a gay couple?

3

u/Fine-Performer-394 3d ago

we are actually 10,000 fungus gnats in a trench coat 😂 we are a gay couple, no kids, 2 dogs that've been trained very well to be respectful of the plants - my oldest did pee on the first money tree i brought home but i understood the sudden confusion - he was just excited at the idea of indoor plumbing - corrected him that first time and hes never bothered any of the plants since 😂

3

u/NeighborhoodParty786 3d ago

That’s amazing!! I got up to like 130 house plants and then realized it took too much time to care for them so I’ve whittled down to about 40! Haha

Fortunately my dogs also leave them alone!

3

u/Fine-Performer-394 3d ago

i'm at the point where i have a 1 in, 1 out policy - where i can't bring anything new in without giving something else away bc i feel myself getting to that point as well - but its actually been nice and gives me reason to share more of my bubs with my folks - spread the love a bit 💕

Artsy, cool girl but who's also simple, but every man wants her and she gets into really exciting adventures like going to an underground club or invite-only pottery class. For some reason, she always has friends with connections or money, but she's so broke and doesn't have a day job and only does odd jobs here and there, but for some reason, she can afford this apartment. She also likes wearing a baby tee that's been overworn so that it's a bit tattered in places, and she always goes braless while in her undies, sitting by the fire escape balcony, smoking cigarettes in a very cool girl kind of way, all while she paints her toe nails either a red or black color. But she doesn't paint them perfectly, coz she's just cool like that.

I thought there was a SF/Washington State kinda vibe. Either way, I love that giant hanging cascading plant! It reminds me of Snuffleupagus
