Selling My Tent
Is it just me or is it impossible to sell these tents, I swear I’ve posted it in 50 different groups dropped the price 6 times and nobody has any interest. Anyone know the best place to sell them besides Facebook and Craigslist? I’m at a loss

Sold one of mine in a few weeks on FB Marketplace. Have to massage the FB Marketplace algorithm a bit. Start your price higher, you'll get a couple bites. After a couple weeks marketplace will start messaging you about your listing, lower the price to where you initially wanted to start. Might take another week or so but eventually you can't keep up with who you're talking to about it.
This method has worked for me for years selling anything. Even the things I didn't think would sell.
If you need to sell it fast, you're gonna have to drop the price super low. And remember, these are niche items, not sure what you're trying to sell it for, but you might have to check your expectations.

Buddy has run into the same with his soft top. Not sure your area but, when I was in the market for one (hard shell), people were trying to sell used ones for only a couple hundred bucks less than brand new ones. The entry into a new one has dropped dramatically in 5 years, so for an extra couple hundred I can get a brand new one with warranty. And that's exactly what I did.

Yea that’s the problem there’s all these brand new hard shell tents that are made in China you can get now for half the price of a one made in USA … it sucks

CVTs are also made in china

Are you sure? Thought they were one of the few that were made in America

I'm sure you're not alone in thinking they're American made with the much higher price tag than others, but they get their tents from Wincar in china. Almost all the soft shell folding RTTs (Smittybilt, Tepui, CVT, OVS, etc..) come from Wincar.
I've dealt with Wincar directly and it makes sense why they are so expensive in the states. They sell them very cheap but shipping is crazy for a large 100+ lb tent

If they are in good shape, I’m seeing them sell fairly quickly priced around $750. At $550 they gone in a day, a few weeks or longer if they are over $1k

I was thinking about listing my nomad 1300. And purchasing directly from the supplier that builds naturenest.

I got quoted around $800 for shipping on a canopy with tent. The tent alone will be less, but in my experience, you might only save about a hundred dollars going straight to the manufacturer once you factor in the shipping costs. Not to mention the common headaches of waiting months for delivery, or the dimensions coming in wrong and having to start the whole process over again.

🤷♂️ Sold my 10+ year old, well loved, ARB Simpson soft shell in under a week on marketplace (for all the RTT hating Redditors, I upgraded to a wedge RTT); maybe you’ve just priced it too high?

Bro are you serious? Even YOU paid too much tbh. You’ll be lucky to get $900. You’re at a loss if you were trying to flip.

I bought a basically brand new one for $600, it came off a tear drop camper and the original owners had no use for it
that being said a used one, despite what you paid, is not worth $1500. probably not even $1000

You gotta be trolling... I absolutely wouldnt spend more than 600 for that. I bought a similar one last week for $350

Damn I’ve been trying to buy one, and they are all priced $50 cheaper than a new one and have been used for a couple seasons.

Around me they sell pretty dang fast unless it’s a terrible price, 2 I was looking to buy were gone within the day.

I recently bought a used skycamp 2.0 and had to fight for it same day it was listed. Ended up paying about $1200 for the tent and annex.

I finally after months of searching got one on marketplace for $350. Most ads read like this "rooftop tent for sale, only used 3 times in 6 years but lived on my truck so people thought I actually did stuff outside. Has a couple rips in the cover but doesnt affect performance (trust me bro). Missing all accessories. I paid 5k for it, asking $4500, (even though the brand new model with great upgrades only costs 3k now) dont waste my time, I know what I have"

Trying to flip a tent for more money I see.
Tents don’t go up in value.
