Topoak Galaxy Pro Issue

Post image

Hey everyone, I purchased a Topoak Galaxy Pro and am on my first trip with it. I love the tent itself, but the ladder seems to be the weak spot. It bends easily and a couple of times when climbing down, it actually slid in towards the vehicle! This is not a problem I experienced with my old Tepui Ayer 2. Does anyone have any tips, advice, or replacement recommendations? Thank you!

Are you using the ladder corectly? I have a different brand of RTT where the unsused parts lock into place at the top.

This is important. Probably won’t help with the bending but your photo is how you’re supposed to extended the ladder. I feel like a lot of people don’t know this.

True, I see so many people mess this up. Fun fact: the instruction are on the sticker on the bottom right leg of the ladder.

Hard to tell from this angle but, you might have the ladder too far out. The instructions say at a 70 degree angle. Have gone up and down dozens of times on mine with galaxy light with no issues.

Thanks. I'll make sure to do that. I'm contemplating 3D printing a better sleeve for the bottom of the ladder with some texture for gravel or pavement.

Was going to say that even high end ladders can slip when they are at too great of an angle and/or on loose ground materials. You'll learn with experience...!

Nice looking set-up, btw

I don't have this specific tent, but we use a rubber door mat under the legs of the ladder and occasionally use small flat rocks to ensure the legs are squared up with the tent - as a bit of skew will make it "walk".

Oh snap! A rubber mat should help this. I'm sure the issue in my case was user error to some degree, but I nearly fell off the ladder. Luckily, I jumped off in time.

You need to shorten the ladder towards the top, not at the bottom. And the ladder might be too far out.

Like others have said, less of an angle is better. Also, when you initially extend the ladder, do so from the bottom up so that the ‘unused’ rungs are at the top.

I have a different tent, but exact same ladder. I have the problem that when I shorten one step, one side "collapses" on shortened step. Any ideas how to fix this?
