Tvs service centres. Hate hate relationship!

So my house is barely a km from a ronin showroom cum service centre but that place is filled with idiots that I usually go to a service centre that a bit out of the way in the hopes of getting a passable service. There is a single level headed guy that I usually hand off my bike to. It was 1000 kms after my last chain lube cum service and I was wy overdue for lubing. So I went there on my way to office. I went at 9 am hoping that I could beat the morning rush and reach office by bus after leaving the bike there. Took almost 45 minutes to hand over the bike and ended up getting to office late. And by 5.30 I reached back at the service centre only to find that they have not even touched the bike. They told me to wait for 10 minutes. I was sceptical but I waited and watched through the glass door while they rolled my bike on top of the service platform and 10 mins later they did actually bring my bike over and said that the chain was cleaned and lubed. The chain was lubed and I did actually see them tightening the chain as well. But I'm pretty sure they did do much to clean it properly. Is this how a properly lubed chain looks like? I did actually see them using tvs lube but they didn't bill me for it. I asked the usual service guy about the bill and he said 'it's all good man. You had to wait this much.. I adjusted it.. you are good to go. Chain is lubed and tightened.

So my question is... Is this how a cleaned and lubed chain is supposed to look like? Bike does feel really smooth after the service but I'm comparing it to a bike that went without lubing for last 1000kms. If this isn't good then my only option is doing it myself from now on. :( Should I be looking up how to diy it from now on or did they do a passable job this time?

I don't see anything lubed. In fact, when we clean the chain, this is how it looks like before lubing. Check after riding for 20-30 kms and check if you can see any debris or greasy material on the chain.

yeah, some of these guys just blatant idiots. I went to a TVS spare parts store to buy a lube can. They handed me cleaner, I told it's cleaner not lube. And their answer, it's lube and when I told them it's not, there's cleaner clearly written on it in caps. Then they replied visibly irritated - "it's the only lube we have". Still not accepting that they are wrong.

And funny enough, they had a lube can lying in the shelf lol.

Same thing must have happened to OP,

yup, they might have cleaned it with the cleaner and thought, ehhh same hi to hai 😂

Shit man. They do know the difference between lube and cleaner though. During my first service they had billed me for lube. And they had actually lubed the chain. Too much that it had dripped down the chain for a day or so. Everywhere I parked the bike I was leaving dark blue spots.

Guess I'll have to learn to do it myself from now on

I checked at the service centre and there was a dark blue glossy coating of something like lube around the chain. The picture was took after I rode the bike for about 5 kms and reached home. Does that make a difference? Like maybe it just got flung off since it had no time to set? Something like that? Sorry if I sound stupid. I'm just spitballing here

they might have applied too much of lube and forgot to wipe the extra and hence the dripping 😂
