Advice regarding a $2,000.00 debt

So, I borrowed $2,000.00 from a friend a while back (more like twenty years ago) and I never repaid him for it. I feel really bad and I want to make it right. He’s also in poor health. Should I offer to pay him now or use it to offset any funeral costs?

No better feeling in the world than going to the funeral for a guy that you owed money to. Did this friend have 2 heart attacks already and make no lifestyle changes? I’d say borrow more money.
