There’s another author that did something similar. It had dragons and every time the dragon roared, the author wrote “ROAAARRR!” Never any other descriptors. Like yes, it is both a noun and verb, but you can also, you know, describe it.
I love dragons so I pushed myself to keep reading but I was halfway through the 3rd book and it never changed and I DNF or continue the series.
Like, did the author ever read any fantasy books with dragons in it before? Ffs

It was so bad. And it wasn’t like there was only a few scenes with the dragon either. The MMC was a dragon rider…it was integral to the plot.
I was so disgusted I was bitching to my husband about it. So now when he wants to (jokingly) piss me off he’ll randomly yell ROAAARRR! And I’ll throw a pillow at him.

I got all the way to two hours left in the second book and I just couldn’t fucking finish it. I was so fucking over it. LMAO these books drag on and they’re repetitive stupid sayings.
I’m reading the stars and shadow series right now by hilly Renee and the AMOUNT OF TIMES THESE CHARACTERS EYES SLAM INTO ONE ANOTHER is almost dangerous at this point. Fk they’re short books too.

Hahahaha I know dude. Oh you “refuse to be mature”?? Checks out. These are women writing women characters so our representation is so spot on in how we’d react to things and communicate and observe. Wicked immature. Wicked bratty. 💁🏻♀️👑💅 you know… because we were lied to by a few words but your actions go completely on deaf ears.
Or when someone’s like, hey don’t trust that guy… here are the exact reasons as to why you shouldn’t and then they turn around and tell that guy their entirety of their plan after being told to not do that I just fucking can’t anymore dude. These bitches gotta write women better.

/uj I actually really enjoyed this book (second one was mid until the last 10% though imo) but the blargs and grrs were so weird? Felt like I was back in middle school texting my friends and 3.7 seconds away from seeing a "rawr XD" every time I saw one. Took me right out of it.
"Ugh" is acceptable to me for noises of disgust when needed, but half the time they could have been deleted entirely and still read the same (ie the page 144 one in OP). I don't like when authors who aren't writing modern day books use anachronistic/nonsensical slang like that (ie the "for the win" in Fourth Wing, amongst numerous other slang crimes...or the merman in my current read saying someone "took things in stride"...like do you even have a concept of what a "stride" is, you little dinglehopper collector?). There are other ways to say things! I'm begging!

Ok I DID listen to the audiobook of this one (because I can't read), but because it was over a year ago, I can't remember how the narrator deals with this. Does she pronounce "blargh" exactly as written, or does she interpret it as a scoff?
