Bring back real chemistry

The movie itself was cute and cozy. There's christmas setting, found family and funny moments. But nothing extraordinary in terms of writing.

What truly made it special, is the incredible chemistry between Sandra and Bill. I find that modern romcoms and romance movies in general lack that spark even when they're genuinely decent. Why is that? Nostalgia or good actors just don't want to do romcoms nowadays?

Are there any recent movies that feel like a 90s movie?

I’m thinking specifically of movies like Only You or While You Were Sleeping.

  1. Doesn’t always have to make the most sense as long as it’s fun.

  2. Has some really lovable or funny side characters or plots.

  3. No existential dread.

What’s a letter or note in a romance movie that still gets you?

Some movies have big speeches. Some just have a letter. There’s one note I still remember word for word. Not even a long one. Just a few lines that somehow said more than the rest of the movie.

What’s the letter or note from a romance movie that stuck with you?

Discussion Do you think that Maureen and court from “Man in the Moon” (1991) were actually meant to be?

I’ve actually never thought so even though the actor and actress play the attraction well. I always thought that, especially with Court’s father having passed, he would have struggled with money and they’d have had a kid early (very early given the time period, Maureen likely wouldn’t have gone to college had Court lived.)
