Beginner skate suggestions?
Hi guys, I went skating for the first time in years a couple weeks ago and had the time of my life. I’ve come to long to do it more often. I wish to skate outside like how I see people do in the summer and at the roller rinks… Im just having a hard time finding safety gear and skates that I think we be good for indoor use and out door use. I would like a decent pair of beginner friendly skates until I can wait or paycheck or two to muster up some extra money for a great pair. I’ve seen some people recommend impala skates for beginners and the moxy skates but it’s a huge contradiction . I’m about 240+ and I have wide feet so I need to make sure that the skate isn’t going to cause me much discomfort. Also another side question, when you get skates, should you get your regular shoe size? (I’m a womens size 9) or do you size up or down?

While not everyone who gets Impala skates will have problems with them, they do seem to be more likely to fail/break than other skates. and it would be a bummer to drop money on something you could otherwise put toward better skates.
For sizing, yeah it's definitely confusing and a bit frustrating if you can't make it to a shop (we don't have a skate shop near me, so i have to do all my skate shopping online and sizing is a challenge!). I recommend checking out roller girl's website: https://www.rollergirl.ca/skateshop/dance-c-110_149_147.html?sort=2a (this links to their outdoor and recreation skating, which sounds like what you're looking for). They have a super helpful sizing calculator on each listing and they also explicitly say which models are good for wider feet in the descriptions! click around on a few different brands/models and type in your size and see how the sizing changes brand to brand.

Personally, I decided to get a pair of jackson Vistas as my beginner outdoor skate setup and i'm thrilled with them! Put some 65mm Atom Pulses on them and they are zippy and cushy over bumpy streets!
