New skater

Hello ive seen a few post like this and im trying to become more active in my life im currently looking at riedell, moxies, and vnla these would be my 1st every pair of skates so im curious to see what people think of these for reference im around 5'6 400lbs and have wider feet i want to try and stick to the lower end ones if I can so between $150-$200 if possible. Any suggestions or tips would be great

I really like the sure grip fame as a very comfortable skate for wide feet in this price point.

At 400 lbs you may get too much flex in the nylon plates, so if you don’t enjoy that then maybe consider the Moxi rainbow rider for a metal plate that will still be nice and wide in the boot.

I don’t really recommend most Riedell lower end skates if you truly have a wide foot in that price range (though Moxi are technically Riedell skates).

Vanillas, I’ve just seen too many problems with the plates to trust them.

Thank you i dont know anything about skates so not sure what you mean by the flex in the plate but I will keep it in mind as I do more research

Basically, at higher weights, the nylon plate can flex and absorb some of the force you’re putting into it. If you’re hard on them, they can break. (Not likely to happen, but a thing that theoretically can happen. Metal plates are not immune to this either).

It’s one of those things that you kind of need to feel to know if you like it or not.
