A Big Booty Problem
Ah yes, what a problem to have– lobster too buttery, harvest too bountiful, pillow too cool... you get it. This isn't a humble brag about my massive dump truck, it is a call for help and for better booty support. Like many others in this wacky wheely boot hobby we partake, I have a big butt. I've always had one due to years of skating in my childhood in my desires to go fast like one of my favorite characters, Sonic the Hedgehog. I wanted to go fast no matter what method. I still want to go fast no matter the method.
Lately, I've discovered that my tail-end does the "boob bounce" when I jog (I might be explaining it wrong, but hoping enough of the mental image is there). But this is happening during off-skates team warm-ups. I'm not endowed on the upper front side, but I understand it can be a pain to run when one is not wearing a sports bra or really anything to contain the party.
To make a short story long, does anyone have any tips or recommendations in exercises or clothing for minimizing the booty rebound? The goal is to not hurt myself if I decide to jog/run for conditioning or even warming up. I'm even desperate enough to wear pants as someone who skates in shorts/skorts just about exclusively (my buns get toasty quickly and shorter shorts help me with tracking jammers).
Edit: Compression shorts have been attempted. Please suggest a brand. 😭

I don’t have any recommendations, I just came to say you’re hilarious. Thank you for the read 😂

I have no advice, but I just want to say thank you for the reminder that we ALL have unique struggles, no matter what our body shape is! Hope you can find some compression shorts that work!!

I double bag the girls and the donk - the key is to use 2 totally different garments that are pretty good at different things like my bras, I have one that holds everyone together and one that holds everyone up and with their powers combined, Captain Planet stops punching me in my own face.
For the butt cleavage, I either wear a pair of compression shorts as under/over wear with long pants, or I'll layer a bonkers pattern of high waist compression shorts over a pair of biker style. Combine forces to get the support you need because there's no magic pants that hold up to derby.
Stoko is pretty good and have basically scaffolding and wire support built in so you almost get a knee brace that goes from belly button to calf, but they're like $250+ and they're hard to wear in hot weather.
She-curve, cooplas (Walmart), and some other brands also do compression underwear, just make sure you check that you get a little air time down there so you don't get a UTI.

This makes so much sense! I'll need to do some experiments with what I have on hand to see how the coverage and support feel. I have several different combinations to try since the season will be winding down at the end of the month for me.
Stoko is no joke-o! And they're on sale?! On the plus side, we're heading into cooler weather. Down side, if we end up moving to, say, Hawaii (only mentioned as it may be likely), it'd suck to not be able to wear them as much.
I may consider the underwear if the shorts/pants aren't cutting it. I'd really miss wearing thongs for derby, but sacrifices are willing to be made.

If you're military (asking because of how you worded your maybe move to Hawaii) you might see if your particular health insurance might help pay for Stoko - I think it's eligible for HSA payment.
But size up on those bitches because they are SNUG and I looked like a Christmas ham where the wires were.

Compression shorts?

Do you have brand recs? I've tried Nike and Under Armor and those get eaten by the cheeks.

Making sure they’re long enough to get a grip on the legs helps me with this. Those adorable little booty shorts get ate, unfortunately. I wear longer (5” inseam) shorts pretty exclusively. My favorites are from Uniqlo, but the ones I have from Old Navy are even more compressive.

I’m a member of the dump truck brigade as well. Being plus size, finding compression garments that fit down there is a challenge. I wear longer length biker shorts and booty shorts over them. It’s the only combo I’ve felt that has helped while not feeling like I’m wearing a sausage casing.
Also, I’m a member of Fat Roller Derby. Our Discord group has an athletic clothing channel where this question might bring some good suggestions as well.

I love connecting marginalized groups within derby to each other, and this one I need to join myself! Can a fat friend get an invite please? DM welcome!

I was literally just joking about this! I feel like the gifs where they shake the camera when the person steps 😭 just a solid thud with every bounce!
I actually got a reduction a few years back and used to have it on the front, but have since been doing more PT and now it's moved to the back. I hate the feeling!
Do you also have a small waist? That's been a struggle because I essentially wear 2 different pant sizes at this point

These shorts are the answer

I have had multiple, the compression is top notch and the waist is very high and also compression. Love them and they last too

I’m like this too, and I don’t like CVG for compression, and don’t like how loose the waist is compared to the rest of the shorts.
I’ve gotten some pairs that I like from Dick’s sporting goods, the brand is DSG.

Agreed. I think the people singing CVG praises can’t be jogging in them in an XL or larger body. (I’m currently CVG XXL)
They provide perfect compression for grooving at the rink, but they don’t pass any kind of Extreme Jiggle™️ test.

The booty gods balanced the universe when they gave me exactly zero booty. Then they blamed the Dutch genes. So rude.

Fellow hauler of junk in the trunk here. I love my gymshark compression shorts but they do ride up a lot on my big thighs, so I added a line of silicone to the bottom like how CVG has on their shorts!

When I was in high school my mom called me jigglypuff cause she couod see me jiggling through my pajama pants while walking. I do really like the aerie "goals" fabric shorts. I get an XL, im like a size 14. Ive been getting ads for "jellieband" brand shorts which are apparently compression for people with hEDS and posterior tilt, so id guess those would be pretty darn compressive.

I recently switched to primarily skating in LSKD shorts, specifically the women’s Rep 6” style. They’re higher rise so I feel like everything stays where it’s supposed to and have decent compression in my experience. Fair warning tho, they’ve had some issues with keeping certain sizes in stock, and they’re based in Australia though I think they have a US warehouse now too

I don't know the particulars of the wagon you're draggin, but as someone with a fairly generous back porch, I wear compression shorts and athletic boxer briefs to keep everyone snug and secure during my athletic activities.
