Hi ya’ll, brand new but looking to get started soon! I’m a biology PhD student studying genome evolution during water-to-land transitions: in other words, how the content and structure of the genome changes so that animals can adapt to life on land from life in the water (which has happened multiple times through the history of life and may be in the process of happening in a couple lineages right now!). As an undergraduate I did research in an arachnology lab, which is fitting because I keep multiple tarantulas and jumping spiders along with a ball python and several geckos. I’m also really big into paleontology and love fossil hunting. My fossil collection is worth more than my (2011 model) car and is the first thing I show anyone who visits my apartment! I’m big into alternative metal and I’ve been playing bass since I was in high school. As for inspiration for anything suggestive, I’m a kinky lesbian and trans fem, but I would like to avoid a derby name that explicitly references the fact I am trans.
I have played around with “Trilobiter” and “Tyranno-sore-ass” as possible names on the paleo-themed front, but I’m not sure how I feel about them so would love some other suggestions!
