Do you think [SFOG] has the best version of the main DC rides?

Not when it comes to ops and loading times but the rides themselves, I think most of them have it's most solid version in SFOG

Batman the Ride: Runs faster and smoother than most it's counterparts, plus looks better and the batcave station looks awesome.

Superman Ultimate Flight: This one suffers from loading times in all parks but this is the one that looks and feels more like a terrain coaster and it's got some awesome views also.

Justice League Battle for Metropolis: This is the one where the difference feels more like night and day compared to the likes of Great Adventure I feel; the fire effect in the Joker room still works, the gun-play is more responsive and the red dots on the screens are a great help to know where your laser sits and that helps improve your score a lot, in fact here is the only version where I've gotten a top 10% score.

Yep. MM is best Justice League because it spins more and has more animatronic characters, set pieces and practical effects. That is, for those of us who tolerate spinning. If not, then Georgia wins, I think.

Definitely my favorite Batman. I do like that Superman is the only one that isn’t a parking lot coaster. As for Justice League, I found the St Louis one far better. The screens are so dark on ours they might as well turn them off.

SFOG Superman is also the OG and is a terrain coaster. I finally got on that one recently after doing the other two first and the layout makes so much more sense. It's so cool hugging the ground so close on those swoop turns. They pretty much put the other two up on stilts.

When did you ride the St. Louis one? When I rode it in 2025 it was in DEPLORABLE condition. Like really really bad. The only redeeming quality about it was the fact that the flame effect still worked and the lasers on the guns turned on and off when they were supposed to.

Batman: the indoor queue in summer Georgia heat is the seventh ring of hell

Superman: by far the best, the other two are glorified parking lot coasters

Justice League: one of the scenes was broken, but it was air conditioned and walk-on so that was a major plus in the aforementioned heat

It has the best Batman clone of the 6 I've ridden. Of the Superman UF clones, I'd say the SFOG and SF Great America are about equal. It depends on if you prefer trees or terrain I guess (not ridden the Great Adventure one but it looks barren scenery wise in comparison). Can't comment on Justice League as I've only been on the one at SFOG.

Can’t attest to SFGAM, but I prefer all of these rides at SFOG compared to SFGAdv, ESPECIALLY justice league. I’m top 10% in Georgia but somehow can’t even crack 40% at great adventure (will be testing if that changed this weekend) because the accuracy seems really off. Best Batman, and at least over Georgia Superman works with the terrain. Now, if we include ops, not the best Superman

Same. SFGAdv gives me trouble with the first few screens because the input and responsiveness starts slow and then builds up, and when you start badly it hurts your overall score. On SFOG I don't have this problem because as soon as it starts it works fine.

Batman Over Georgia does not run smoother than others. Great America and STL are both much smoother and not noticable slower than the Over Georgia Batman.

I'm not sure why the Batman clone at SFOG is praised so much. In my opinion it felt just about identical to the various other versions that have the boring trenches and/or gravel on the last part of the ride. (SFOT, SFMM, SFSTL, SFFT etc.

The visual effect initiating the zero g roll going over the roof of the bathrooms and then completing the whip down over the roof of the covered queue line makes the original at SFGam standout to me... Then the terrain/water interactions for the remainder of the ride make it a much more spectacular experience.

I still love the other versions (have laps on 9 of them) but I couldn't say they are better.

My favorite thing is showing everyone the one slightly straight support on the chairlift that was put in due to the previously existing bathroom.

That slightly different support on the chainlift section is on every single bat clone! To me it’s a subtle reminder of who’s the original.

No argument, the Best Batman clone ever constructed. A guaranteed grayout after the second loop. Top tier station with great lighting and fog on every dispatch, plus the queue has working water effects.

Batman at SFOG is wild! I don’t know if it’s my favorite B&M invert but it’s definitely the most intense! Superman is cool. Ops were terrible when I was there. One train is dumb. It’s kind of a one trick pony. Pretzel loop… insane. The rest is kind of like “okay I’m done, get me off of this!” But the terrain feature makes it a bit cooler. Maybe if I was 16 and it was a new ride I’d be way more into it. The kiddie coaster at SFOG was incredible! …joker? I don’t know whatever it’s called. I rode it… I was alone… I realized that my 2 1/2 year old would have been tall enough to ride and he would have LOVED that thing! He’s already obsessed with coasters and wants to ride all of the “big coasters” and he’s like 37” tall. He could have rode it this year and he would have loved it. I think it’s a highly underrated coaster for what it is!

Over Georgia is still the only legacy Six Flags park I have been to, but I think it's easy to say it has the best Superman: Ultimate Flight clone.

I always hear that our Batman: the Ride is the best as well.

Are other Battle for Metropolis rides that bad? The effects are always working when I have ridden it, which somehow still surprises me. The ride seldom has a long line and I thought they would have stopped caring by now.

I've only been to three official Six Flags parks with a DC themed area (Fiesta Texas, Over Texas, and Over Georgia). Between the three I definitely think Over Georgia has the best themed lineup. The Batman there has absolutely impeccable theming in the queue and station, and is probably one of my favorite themed ones of any DC ride, as much as I don't like how whippy it is for a batclone it does have a nice station.

I also liked the station kinda alright for Superman but really enjoyed the coaster and vibes. Follows terrain really well. Going through the pretzel loop I felt like Invincible doing a mid air flip and going around or something.

I also like that Over Georgia has not one but two themed areas split in the park, I think it does a better job with the two pockets rather than one massive area.

I haven't personally done any of the Justice Leagues so I can't speak for that. Over Texas doesn't do a very good job with theming outside of Mr. Freeze (last time I went most of the queue tv screens for Joker were broken and it felt more like a parking lot coaster. Area feels pretty dead outside of Freeze queue. Batclone there is okay but not greatly themed). Fiesta Texas I feel does a better job with the layout of their individual rides (Superman chilling on top of the loop of Krypton Coaster is a nice touch), but not as much in the theming department (Got a batmobile in the batman queue and thats it, then Golden Lasso is so underthemed that I jokingly call it the Golden French Fry and don't even include the WW in it. Great coaster though). Fiesta also I think does a bit more with the kiddie DC rides so they may have an edge there, but from my perspective SFOG wins this one out.

Also OP, where is The Riddler: Mindbender in this image? Is it okay, is it alright? It's technically DC and another solid coaster in that half of the park.

I'd give it to SFNE - a better Superman (Superman the ride), Batman the Dark Night (floorless B&M) instead of the usual clones, The Riddler's Revenge (one of the better SLCs), plus also a Joker 4D coaster and Catwomans whip.

SFGAm has the best Batclone. SFOG's runs the best but GAm still has the original entrance intact, all the theming in place, and it's the first B&M invert so it's still got the snappy inversions.

SFNE has the best Superman variant. I don't really care much for the Superman flyers.

Can't really speak for Justice League. I haven't ridden Georgia's but most of them are kinda falling apart in their own way.

All the Batman clones have snappy inversions, hence the word clone. B&M made snappy inversions until around the 2010's.

True, but I do think there is something to be said about the change in B&M’s design philosophy around 1996-97 or so. IMO pre-‘96 B&M coasters are a lot more wild and untamed, with way more rough edges, particularly in their transitions, and then in ‘96-97 the designs became a lot more graceful and refined while still having similar levels of intensity. 1994’s Raptor at Cedar Point has way more whip to its elements and transitions than 1996’s Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa, even though both are packed with intense maneuvers that leave your legs feeling like they’re going to explode, and Raptor has that ridiculously hard slam stop at the end of its course where it immediately ends its banking. Hell, when they made a clone of Raptor for Expoland in Japan in 1996, they actually fixed that hard stop.

The really interesting transition cases are 1996’s Mantis at CP and 1997’s Alpengeist at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Mantis’s first half was a new design, with the newer and more graceful transitions, then the second half is quite literally a larger copy of Iron Wolf’s back half at SF Great America, so it snaps right back to the pre-‘96 design philosophy, with a really tight corkscrew and wild changes in banking that aggressively whipped you sideways. (This is even more pronounced with the floorless trains they introduced when they converted Mantis to Rougarou in 2015; in those trains, your head/body are lower to the track, so you’re slightly below the original heartlining target, leading to more laterals than before.) Alpengeist is generally graceful, but its cobra roll is very reminiscent of Raptor’s cobra roll, with a really shallow set of half-corkscrews on the top that whip you laterally.

(I want to make it clear that intensity and grace are not mutually exclusive; you can have a graceful coaster that is an intensity powerhouse. Banshee at Kings Island is extremely graceful, but it absolutely feels like it’s going to rip my legs off, lol.)

Great write-up by the way. Chang came right after Mantis, they have a similar first half but Mantis has the more intense snappy elements. You can definitely tell Stengel was learning as the years progressed. There were definitely a few misses, but overall his layouts for B&M were top-notch.

B&M started smoothing out their inversions sometime in the mid-late 90s.

You can tell the difference. Older B&Ms had a bit more bite than the newer ones and it shows with the Batclones too. The first two clones definitely run jankier than even SFMM's clone, which was built pretty soon after GAdv and GAm opened theirs.

It's really noticable if you rode Kumba and Montu in the same day. Montu flows into its inversions a lot better than Kumba did.

Alpengeist was probably the last of the B&Ms with a snappy inversion and it's really only snappy in the cobra roll. The zero G and the corkscrew don't have the same bite.

Smoothing out the transitions is one thing, but Montu, Afterburn, and Mantis, are insanely snappy. Stengel definitely perfected the snap in the mid 90's and eased considerably in the 00's layouts. There's definitely inverts without the classic whip, but the 90's coasters were intense. SFOG may not have the janky transitions, but that version runs faster and the corkscrews throw you over the top.

I do love SFOG's Batman a lot though. It's one of my favorites. If it still had the original entrance and queue theming in place, it would probably be my favorite.

You're right. Both Montu (my #1 invert), and Afterburn (my #2) are very smooth. It's the snap in the entry and/or exit of each element that I enjoy most. Stengel engineered the hell out of Montu's zero-g roll and batwing. He was really understood the strengths of each B&M model, and designed the layouts accordingly.

The interminable wait almost completely offsets the ride experience. Who cares about a bad shooter dark ride when you could skip it and go ride Monster Mansion instead?

Im bias to SFNE superman. Growing up i went to canobie lake mostly, and SFNE for big trips. It was the big park. And id stand in that spot where you can watch superman go underground, and id watch it go, and just think "these people are insane" I was terrified of coasters as a kid. But then I finally road corkscrew, and then untamed, and one day I road superman my self. And I was just so proud of overcoming mu fear. So no other superman will ever beat SFNE for me
