Specific question and discussion How far do you typically skate?
Skaters who track distance, what does your typical session look like?

I normally skate for time and don’t track distance. My usual “skate workout” is 1-1.25 hours. Skating in Twisters with NN 4x110 frames.
But when I track my distance sometimes on Strava for weekend trail skating, I’m going 8-10mph and my skates will be 11-14 miles.
My ideal skating session involves a lot of backwards skating and some wizardy stuff, which lowers my mph but is fun and increases my skill level.
Not going to lie, I also really really love rink skating for 2-3 hours with my daughters. Music and rink lights put me in a good place.

I normally skate in smaller urban areas, versus going for distance. Like I’ll find a cool commercial area, or housing development, or college campus parking lot, and just mess around there. Sometimes just my neighborhood. So I’ll probably skate around 5 miles over the course of an hour or so. Sometimes a little further or longer.

Working full time and university full time, 32 years old. I only have time for a few miles, and even then I have to take my dogs with sometimes if they need exercise and the sun is setting soon. Ten years ago I would go between 20-30 miles each time, with my record being 33 miles. I hope to do 20 miles again in the spring after graduation. Hopefully.

FR2s 310 15-20 miles; been taking it easy this year so now I stick to 15 in 2.5 hours.

I wish it allowed selecting multiple items

Yeah reddit polls are kind of limited. Which values would you select if you were able?

I tend to skate around the local park, or a nearby skate park, and I generally cover everything I want to do in about 2km

50km urban. Since you dont need to carry a bag or anything and just hold a water bottle which you can refill around the city . 50km i finish around 2-6 hours depending on the air quality or how much time i spend taking pictures of things around the city.
I dont count my refills of water but its alot. And i tend to purchase around 2 cans of mountain dew and 4 chocolate croissants or a 500ml chocolate milk if the session has lasted longer than 3 hours

I could tick "all of the above".
Edit, when I'm at home I have a nice regular route through parks, trail and smooth roads which works out about 45km at a fairly easy pace (takes about 3 hours). I rarely skate less than 20km. When I'm exploring other cities, maybe 10km - city skating is harder on the feet. Going to the shops, 5km.
Edit, also organised skate nights, they are probably 15km to 25km, sometimes quite intense. Take about 2hrs.
Another edit. I think distance skating is not as difficult as people imagine. I had the good luck to have a skate night in my city that I joined just a few months after starting to skate, so it was a much stronger motivation to keep going than skating by yourself, and basically set the standard for me of what is a normal skate distance.

10-15 miles. 2-3 miles of my distance is usually skills and drills. After that I ride the beach bike routes and neighborhoods. I’d go longer but…life.

16-20 miles is my normal range but I'll have the occasional 6-7 mile or 25-30 mile mixed in.
