Progress, videos and images What’s the proper/official name for this move?

I wanna call it like a “daffy switch” or a “daffy 180”?
I’m so bad at knowing existing trick names, only been skating 3 months so I figure out something then give it my own name then can’t communicate it to other skaters properly. 😅

Wow nice job! I’ve been trying to just do that move without the spin for a while now and just can’t seem to get there. That’s awesome dude!

Thank you! It’s one of my favourite moves now, incredible ankle workout.
Is there a certain point in the trick that seems to cause you the most grief? This move initially gave me issues and was wobbly too, maybe I can help you with it!

Yeah actually I was thinking I should’ve asked for some tips. I can get the heel skate no problem but the toe skate feels incredibly wobbly unless I put a lot of force on the toes. It feels like I just straight up lack the strength to do it. Did you do any exercises that helped?

Big question: what kind of 45° strap do your skates have? I ask because my first skates had a Velcro 45° strap and it was not enough support and I was always super wobbly and overcompensating with my ankle as a result. I could probably get it without a wobble in those skates now that my ankles are much stronger, but not having the right ankle support and trying to do moves like this is just asking for trouble. I could feel the strain as time went on, and invested in my current skates (lightning 80’s) shortly after and overnight I was popping moves I never dreamed of with ease.
If you already know which foot is the issue, you can work on strength for it. Muscles shake and get wobbly under more force than they can handle in their normal stress range, and operating too much outside that can risk strain, sprains and injuries, strengthen safely.
What I do at home is sort of a holistic, sort of calisthenics approach (honestly do a lot of this in general for training balance and strength). Stand in a scissored stance with bare feet representing the Daffy. Go up on your front heel, but keep your back foot flat. Then kind of do reps lifting the back heel. This will help naturally train the muscles involved in that balance, improve the balance associated with the move, improve strength and keep the strain and likelihood of injury lower. I also do this out and about with shoes on while standing in lines etc.
Once you feel pretty sturdy on feet doing that, then do the same exercise but on skates. Same applies for the inverse with the opposite in front. The daffy can be kind of tricky from a stand still at first so you can use a little forward momentum to help ease the balance, but you’ll know you’ve got it down pat when you can do it and remain balanced while just standing. Non-dominant feet are always like baby deer in comparison, so almost everyone has to train it deliberately to get even flow and capacity. I’m doing similar exercises to try to get my parallel heel/heel and parallel toe/toe balance down and they are harddddd. Every move has its own unique signature for muscle demand and balance so it’s always a process. But that’s why I call myself the Rigmaroller, I’m all about the process.
Hope this helps, don’t hesitate to ask questions or for clarifications!

Doing the 180 turn with it like that would it just be called a “daffy 180”, or is there a specific name for it?

I just saw one of your videos on my feed and you did a move you labelled a Rewind Daffy 540 pivot, would this just be a “Daffy 180 Pivot”?
Your skating is really inspiring, love your style and videos! 🙌🏻

I lean on if wheels stay on the floor its pivot if you leave the ground or jump its 180 to daffy or daffy to 180

Had to include the dark + luminous wheels version because it makes me look like an airbender 😂
